I want to calculate the size of a hydraulic pump to drive an Orbital steering system and power a front loader on a tractor.The Orbital is a retro fit as the old system never was any good.The loader is a new application ,max lifting 3 ton.I have available 80 hp,min revs 750 max 2500.Many thanks,Tom.

if the engine the pump must also runs.if it brakes entire system fails

Yeh I think your on the right track with the hydraulic pump, if it's power shift as well it stands to reason that the pump has failed, you can fit a guage to the coupling on the rear of the tractor and it will tell you if the hydraulics are working to pressure, hope this helps
Hi, don't know if you have checked this but anyway if you hydraulic oil filter is clean there may be another sintered bronze filter in the sump of the hydraulic tank this could be patially blocked> don't know this particular machine but if it is partially blocked it may be that you will clean that or there is air in the hydraulic system. power steering pump is mounted on front of engine where the tming gears are. Shaft leaks into crankase. Hydraulic fluid circulates through transmission, main system and power steering. Common problem with the 1020.
The relief valve may be by-passing, or your pump is cavitating..If you can hear a hissing... its the relief...if you hear whining or chuttering sounds... it is the pump cavitating.It sounds much like a power steering pump. Check your fluid level. **Note There may be water in the system if the oil is really milky looking, also from the cavitation of the pump which causes air in system. And then....Go from there or ask more.
