Reset the cable/sat box and tv by turning them off, unplugging them both from the wall outlet, and replugging them after 30 seconds. See if you get pictue back when they get the correct handshake. also, make sure that there are no loose cables going into the TV or into the cable/sat box. You can try using a different type of connecting cord from the cable/sat box to the tv to make sure it is not a bad connecting cord.
What type of cable is connecting your cable/sat box to the TV? Is it HDMI?
Are you using a video game system on the plasma?
There are a few possibilities. An HDMI cable is a standalone cable, which does not require any other type of cable for picture or sound. If you have a coaxial, s-video, or any other type of cable running from the cable/sat box to the TV, then unplug it. Also, make sure the television's input is set to HDMI1 or 2, depending on which hdmi port you have the hdmi cable plugged into - if you have another type of cable running into the tv carrying the audio signal, and the tv is not set for the HDMI1 or 2 channel, then you would get sound, no picture. Lastly, you would want to unplug the hdmi cable from the tv, let it sit for 15-20 seconds, and then plug it back in.
Akai does not have a good tech support site, nor do they list a US toll-free number, so I can understand seeking help elsewhere. Try all of the things I mentioned, and if it is still not working get back with me.

I did as you suggested and still have no pix. No video games are hooked up to the tv. HDMI is connecting cable box to tv.
I appreciate the help. It gave me a lead and a place to begin my search for the problem. Thank you.
