HDMI picture is saturated in the wrong color

This only happens with the connection from the DirecTV box. PS3 and bluray have the correct colors but when I switch it to the DirecTV box the colors get completely screwed up. This has happened before but unplugging and replugging the cables has resulted in correcting it but not this time. Any ideas?

Here is what you can try.
Plug the PS3 cable into the HDMI port directrv is on.
If ps3 looks good, then you ruled out an issue with the HDMI port.
Next swap directtv HDMI cables with the ps3 HDMI cable.
See if it works fine or not using the ps3 HDMI cable.
If all works fine, then you know its the HDMI cable itself.

If the directtv still does not look right, than it is a setting the the video output on the direction tv box.
I would start with that first, see what you find out.

Good luck
Z

The problem is generally the cables, period. If there is a condition whereby the cable was bent, kinked, overheated, or the end damaged in any way, this problem can exist. Many times when a cable is attached to the device, it is cross-threaded or left loose. If the contact is not 100%, you can experience this condition. I suggest that you obtain NEW cables and connect them tightly and firmly in place. This should eliminate the problem, UNLESS the male connection on the device/s have been compromised.

SOURCE: no picture/intermitten picture

I just got through explaining this to someone else - the HDCP encryption system that Philips uses is not future-proof - you will continue to have this problem as long as you use an HDMI connection with a Philips TV. My advice, which you can take or leave, is to use Component (Red, Green and Blue) cables. you won't get 1080p, but you will get 1080i, which is pretty close.

How do i FIX THE COLOR PROBLEMS I HAVE WHILE WATCHING DIRECT TV? Dynex DX-L42-10A 42 in. LCD TV

My guess is that your DirecTV box is outputting in a format your television does not recognize. Some models of the DirecTV box have a button on the front of the box for formats (480,720,1080) and you may be able to press that button until the picture comes in clear.

If there is no button:

1: Try an alternative connection tyoe to the TV from the box (if available, like RCA or coax), then switch the TV to that new input. If you get a clear picture with that connection, then in the settings menu for the receiver there should be format settings where you can select which formats to output. one of the selected formats chosen would be causing the problem. Change or remove one of the formats. (. I.e. if 720 is selected, deselect it.) After that switch back to the original connection and input to test.

or 2: The DirecTV box could be connected to a different TV and in the settings menu for the receiver there should be format settings where you can select which formats to output.

Another unlikely possibility is that the HDMI cable or slot on the TV itself is bad. Try switching the cable or try a different slot in the TV if available.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Bose cinemate no sound

Yes it will work coming straight off the dirctv box. What kind of tv do u have that doesnt have an audio out. I have had to actually use rca splitters to get sound from bluray and cable box because the new samsung led tvs only have optical out. Dont forget the unit not being used must be off or u will have 2 source sounds at one time playing.

It is possible that the HDMI cable is defective. Did you try another cable?

It is also possible that the HDMI port on the TV is failing.

This can be determined by the process of elimination.
