I am not sure if you are using the built in keypad mouse or an external, if you are using an external and you are having issue, you might be having problem with the update driver if you installed SP1 on your computer, the first thing to try is another USB mouse, than can work 10 seconds after plugin it in, and you do not need to reboot.Tony

You will not get manuals with new laptops.
On your laptop, (Click on start, All Programs, Toshiba) you should find an electronic manual. is also important to run the Toshiba Create Recovery Disk utililty to create disks with your operating system on it in casesomething goes wrong.

A simple pigtail won't convert VGA to S-video. The VGA output consists of separate RGB lines and horizontal and vertical synchronization lines.
If you have an adapter that really converts VGA (this output has no audio path) to S-Video and audio lines, then you probably just need to re-select the input through the TV's menu system.

You have to go to BIOS setup, find HDD setup, and change the value to the other one (there are only two possibilities). That will fix your problem. The problem is caused by the fact that the lap top was designed for vista, not XP. and the lap top contains SATA HDD. when installing XP pre-installation doesn't have SATA drivers, so your OS can not see the HDD. Change it in BIOS, and you trouble is gone

either way probly cheaper to buy a new laptop.

alternatively you can just connect a CRT monitor to the monitor out port.

you should have a recovery CD which came with the laptop, which should restore it to it's original condition.

if you only have a windows install CD you can boot from this CD and perform a fresh install (deleting the existing partitions first) PLEASE remember to back up your data first as it will be impossible to restore if it is deleted in this way.

you will have to manually re-install all the software as well, if there is no basic recovery CD.
