I have a fluke 179 meter that was left outside and no longer powers up. Makes no sense as I don't think it was even rained on; morning dew. I've checked batteries and fuses and they are OK. What can I do? Is there a place that sells parts?

check input protection (thermistor (black components - first in line at Voltage terminals should be around 1kOhm, next is 2W resistor = 1kOhm and then 3 varistors (blue) open or very high ohms).

check for shorts in circuit after battery connector

check and clean switch connections

ckeck the plugs and wires

RSOB housing and switch contacts need to be replaced unless main board is damaged.

REPLACE THE Ignition coil under $300 will fix it I just did it the clue is when it rains the coil has cracks in it and water shorts it out.

send it back to Fluke for service if you are certain that battery is good and connector is not damaged (check Voltage on 2 pins that come to the board)

I have the older model but this may have the beep turned off......

Hi, that is the error message indicating a EEPROM error and unfortunatlely, you can't do anything except have the meter serviced by either Fluke directly, or by an authorized Fluke test equipment dealer.

Since Fluke doesn't provide the specs and coding for their products, you wouldn't be able to repair the meter properly, even if you could burn and program your own chipset.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Fluke products are typically quality test instruments and there might be a possibility that you're still covered under their warranty, so checking with them is the best avenue for getting it back to working condition.
