Im sorry to disappoint you but when you format it ,this mean that you not just deleted all that you had on your card and camera memory ...but also made it raw and format the memory again on the allocation unit size...so...if you have the pictures downloaded somewhere its fine cause you have a chance to save them or even put them back on the card ..if this was the only place where they were present they are gone for good...
Next time save pictures before format ...even if you just shoot a few ...make a habbit to insert the card on a card reader and copy them on the computer or better on a disk as a back-up...or use the data cable to do that and beware ...even so if you cut them from the card instead of copy ....or if you click on the case that says delete after import ....this end up with loosing them from the card ...and only get them on the computer ...and even here they are not safe cause any computer can crash anytime and end up loosing them also ...so always back up ...or save them on a disk or even on a hosting site on the internet ...

Flash on my Polaroid 3035 used to work; now it does not. Did I shut it off somehow?

When you look at the lcd screen, is there an icon of a lightning bolt with a slanted line through it indicating it is turned off? If so, you need to push the flash button over and over until it says something like "A" or "auto".

Memory card format.

The Polaroid PDC 700 digital camera accommodates an optional, Type 1 ATA compatible CompactFlash memory card up to 48MB. When an unformatted memory card is installed in the camera, it is automatically formatted when the camera is powered on. WARNING: Once you format the flash memory or format a memory card, all images are erased and cannot be retrieved - they are gone forever! Before you format (erase) the flash memory or format a memory card, transfer the images to your computer.
