Bearcat scanner lockout on and i want it off - Uniden Radio Communications

Push the "L/O" lockout button and it will lockout that channel.
When you press "Scan" you have to have at least one of the banks scanning, so press 1, 2, 3,....9, 0 whatever bank you have channels programmed in order to automatically scan. You should be able to press "Manual" to see each channel individually.

Try manually unlocking each channel by selecting it and then pressing the LOCKOUT key. That will normally clear the channel for programming. If that doesn't fix the problem, power the scanner OFF, then press and hold the MANUAL, 2, and 9 keys while powering the unit ON. That should restore the scanner to its original factory settings.

Press the lockout button...there should be a switch in the back of it ...flip it...now try.....hope this helps...

To program your BC55XLT:

Turn on radio.

It will be in scan mode. Press Manual (orange button) to stop scanning.
Press Manual button to step through channels to get to the one you want.
(Or press channel number and then manual button)

If "LockOut" is displayed it means this channel isn't being "Scanned."
You will want to lock out constant "broadcast" services such as NOAA or airport weather. Pressing Lockout will toggle the feature on and off.

Select a channel to program. Use the keypad to enter frequency. Use "E" for Enter
key. If the radio displays an E this means Error. Usually, the
frequency you typed in is outside of the capabilities of the scanner.

Once you hit the E you will immediately start hearing anything that's
out there on the frequency you entered.

Push the "Review" button and the scanner will display the frequency
that is programmed for the channel. A "-" will be displayed for the
decimal point.

I couldn't locate a manual for your oldie, but it's fairly simple to operate.

1. Turn the scanner ON.
   
2. Press "Manual" to stop scanning. Use the keyboard to choose the channel you want to enter your first frequency into. If you want channel 2, press the number 2 on the keyboard and then "Manual" again. If you want channel 12, press the 1 and then the 2 and then "Manual" again.
   
3. Enter the desired frequency, including the decimal point. For instance, if the frequency is 555.789, enter 5, 5, 5 and then the dot button, then 7, 8 and 9. Then press "Enter" to complete the setup.
   
4. Use the "Manual" button to move to the next channel to enter the next frequency. Continue this process until you have all frequencies entered.
   
5. Complete your entries and then press "Scan." Set the squelch by turning the "Squelch" knob all the way up and backing off until you hear no static.
   
6. Lock out a channel that is annoying you by pressing the "Lockout" button. If you want to listen to the channel again, simply select "Manual," find the channel by entering it on the keypad and then hit "Lockout" again

hi . i w given a Uniden Bearcat 175XL 16 channel scanning radio. the OPERATION buttons are: PRI SPEED WX LIMIT SRCH HOLD DELAY LOCKOUT and in orage color: SCAN MANUAL. please help. the only thing i can get to hear is the WEATHER CHANNEL. i cant even hear the squelch. can u help

Hold the Lockout button down until you hear two beeps....all channels are now unlocked.

* Push manual button and bring it around to channel #1
Enter the freq including the decimal point. Push the E button to enter the freq into the first channel.
* Push manual again and move to channel #2 and repeat.

does not say when this was posted. but you need to do a factory reset. It realy means that the channel in question has been locked out. button on the bottom row third from the left is the L/Out (lock out) button
