From the support site it says that it has an Ambit 802.11 a+g or an Ambit 802.11a. Here is the support site address Acer Travelmate 220. Are you not seeing a wireless card listed in device manager or under network connections? Is there a switch somewhere that is turned off?

1. Go to Start>> Right click My Computer>> Manage>> Device Manager 2. Expand the USB Controller section 3. Right click and Uninstall all of the listed USB devices 4. Reboot the system

When you first boot the machine at the bios screen hold the ALT key and press F10 this should start your acer recovery.
I would visit the acer site first and download certain drivers, ethernet or wireless etc and save them to disk or USB storage etc

Is your battery 0k? it may be faulty. pull it out and see if you have the same problem with NO battery installed.

Maybe its disabled in bios. Try to enable it

Sounds like the bios flash has failed, the only thing you can do now is try to flash again, make sure you have the right bios update for that model machine, suggest you get a USB floppy drive so you are able to re-flash the bios, if it still doesn't work then the machine is rendered useless.

What has changed most recently? did they work before? May be disabled in bios, need more info.

Open the memory cover from bottom of the laptop if you can find. And re-plug the memory chips carefully..make sure it be plug in properly. and try switch on again.

If you have access to the original disks that came with the machine I would suggest trying to use those.

Is the harddrive SATA?

Try installing XP on the hard drive through another Laptop or a USB converter. Then place the drive back in the computer to start windows.
