How can I make the Maytag Centennial 3.2 agitate while the lid is open? I want the clothes to wash and just let them soak, not rinse immediately after agitating; without the trouble of watching the process.

You really can't without redesigning the washing machine.

2011 Maytag Centennial. It starts to agitate while the water fills in the beginning of the cycle.

Does it fill with water to the correct level? The water pressure switch lets the machine fill to a certain level and the stops the water coming in, then the control board should start the agitation.

The first video might help you.

Clothes wrapping around washing machine agitator.

This issue could be caused by a number of things. It is possible that the clothes are not properly balanced in the wash drum, causing them to wrap around the agitator. It could also be a problem with the agitator itself, or with the transmission.

Maytag centennial top loader i left the lid open to soak some clothes and it drained on its own and now it is stuck in draining mode

Turn the machine off. Wait 2minutes close lid and start new cycle.
check to see if your drain hose is lower than the bowl....this will also cause the water to drain out

I have a maytag centennial washer MVWC400XWO it is 3 years old. The washer has stopped after the initial wash cycle leaving the cloths wet in a tub full of water. The washer will not go to the spin/drain...

For saftey the lid lock and lid down switch must be activated before the machine can advance to the next cycle. This has been the sequence for all top loaders..

Check the switch for the lid it is likely defective.

Make sure that the power is removed.

Simple repair by a qualified technician.

Hope this helps?
