Trying to set the time on a timex 1440 that someone gave me second hand. I am in Lima Peru so the automatic time change doesn't work. I don't kow what all the little icons at the top stand for either.

I have a timex 1440 sports watch with only 4 buttons. I cannot change the time. I have tried many combo's of pushing them and I can't change the time. What do I do?
I assume that you do not have the instructions, so you need to download them from the Timex web site.
Go to "timex.com", at the bottom of the screen is a tab "Product instruction ...." select this and choose from the selection given.

Stting the time

Try the link above for a manual.  It is NOT the same watch, but does have some buttons named similarly to the 1440.  Go to the Time and Date section.  The key was to hold down the SET button till the seconds flashes, then use START/SPLIT to adjust the value and MODE to toggle to the next field etc.
