HI, a friend is selling a hitachi 61" tv that is hdtv compatible, it's four years old and is fine except she says it needs the blue lens needs re-alignment?? is it worth paying 300 for and can the problem be fixed and how much generally would i be looking at to fix it?
Possibly you can go into the menu and do an auto adjust and this would correct the problem automatically. I own a 57 in and have had it for sometime...definitely.a good buy @ 300.00 since these are upwards of $1500 - 2000 +... I used to work for Hitachi and those bulbs have over 20,000 life hrs..
I get people all the time bringing rear-projection TV's in to my shop,
that a friend of theirs gave to them. There is a reason why
people give them a way (even better - sell them to their friends) cause
these sets have many problems, are expensive to repair, and they want
something better. Your money is better spent on something
new. Just make sure you google the model number you intend to buy
first with the words "repair" or "complaint" in the search, in order to
not get one of the many new sets that are customer service
nightmares.

My Hitachi 50" plasma has exactly same problem. I have called local TV service centre, and I was told min. charge is $500 plus $110 for pickup. It is out of the warranty now (almost 3 years old), I really don't know what to do.
hi,i have same hitachi p50h401,just over a year old, mint condition never use stand but boards inside have some problems(blue light is flashing but tv not turning on).will sell it or buy yours.thx oliver.e-mail to [email protected]
Hi , audio output failure, possibly needs re-boot of cable/sat system, too many variables to troubleshoot on here, and thats generally a great tv so yes I would advise you to get a tech to fix it, video-tek
I have the same problem with blue haze that just spread out on model 55VS69A ,
tv is almost 2 years old. i called hitachi and they advised to call a local repair center to check the tv...they confirmed Optical Block (light engine ) replacement light engine cost $1400 and labour $400, so i called back hitachi and they said they will provide light engine and will have to pay labour!....this is not right paying out of pocket for a tv less than 2 years old....I am not sure if the issue will resurface again...more likely ....Hitachi is supposed to issue a recall or atleast like sony did to cover all cost for there defective TV's....I will NEVER buy hitach again.
