HD ready?? NO - - Compatible? Yes but you'll need the converter.. The US post office will be giving away coupons for the converter. Google search the HD converter issue and you'll have a wealth of information.

If you can do it yourself replace C31 (1000 25v) also good idea to replace C32,35 also (1000 uf 25v). Theres also C33 (680 uf 25) if you want to replace it.
i had the same problem. When i played a DVD on my Memorex player, a double screen displayed and a PSCAN message displayed in yellow. I simply toggled (switch) the PSCAN switch on the back of the DVD player. -Mike / Florida
