My niece just called and her emachines w3507 doesn't boot,the light on the front lights and a fan comes on a little louder than normal but nothing else happens,no harddrive light or noise ,screen says no signal...she just hooked up to the net earlier this week.She turned off the pc last nite.then today when she tried to boot ,not working.

3 bleeps usually relating to memory... try removing and re-inserting RAM and video cards... or try them elsewhere in another machine. It may be wise to remove all the RAMs and add one at a time while trying to reboot.

NOTE: Remove the power wait a few moments before handling each RAM.

Another cause since it's been 'sitting' a while could well be the power supply due to failing capacitors, so trying another wouldn't be a bad idea.

sounds like a bad power supply... get one from newegg.com they are easy to replace, it will only plug in to the place it is supposed to.... check wattage out put and get same or higher

I would check to see if power is getting to your hard drive, Make sure the white molex's are plugged in.

E-Machines are, unfortunately the worst machines out there. They're up there with Compaq.
You're not going to like what I say but I'd urge you to buy a new one. Chances are it will take an arm and a
leg to fix what your using and for a little bit more money you can have a really nice one for 500 dollars
or less.

check the memory module and the processor. replace them if they are defective.

If you get nothing but a blue light and no video at all it sounds like you have a bad power supply. They are easy enough to check and replace but not for a first timer. If you know someone who knows more; get a volt meter and put it on the DC scale. Unplug a power plug to a drive or find one that is not used. Measure the Yellow to black and then the red to black wires. You should get 12 & 5 volts respectively.

CMOS might be corrupted. Replace the motherboard.

sounds like an issue with your motherboard or something like that...try resetting the motherboard by unplugging the power, taking out the battery of the motherboard inside the computer and pressing the power button several times to drain the power. then put the battery back in, plug in the power cord and try to start it up. if it doesnt work then ur gonna have to contact emachines because ur mobo is either defective or broken...

Emachines are bad for having failed power supplies and motherboards. Test your power supply, watch this video.

Couple things to check. First, check with different monitor. Their monitors are usually build by KDS and I think there was a bad series out there. Also check for any beep codes through speakers on startup, this can tell you bad ram or bad video out. Also try unplugging computer and removing CMOS battery inside (watch like battery). Lastly, If non of the above, a bad processor will allow the computer to come on but no beep, no boot, no nothing but fans and green power light. Hope this helps a little.....
