I had a samsung semiauto single tub karizma model washing machine. Recently a problem of humming sound is coming from the motor. I lodged a complaint (No. 8402726887) on 21.02.2010 thro' the toll free number. The complaint was directed to the Service center located in Kukatpally, Hyderabad. This center has responded on 24.02.2010 and came out that the motor of the machine to be replaced. Inspite of daily followup to the call center & the service center even after 12 days after the complaint, the service center is not in a position to solve the problem (the required spare is readily available). After sales support of Samsung is the worst. 3 years back I had similar experience with PC monitor of this brand. I appeal all that not to go for this brand just for the after sales support is the worst.

Your problem is not the motor, but the startup capacitor.
They simply supplied a low quality, underpowered capacitor on this model. Replace that with one from 1stsourceparts.com and you should be fine. The new one will be an upgraded model. I am assuming that this motor hasn't been overheated or stressed of course.

Whirlpool heavy duty extra large capacity washer, washes, water drains, won't spin, makes a humming noise (not loud) when trying to spin

Are you sure it’s agitating? If it isn’t agitating or spinning, then motor coupler is most likely broken. If it is actually agitating, but not spinning, clutch may be bad or article of clear thing could be lodged between basket and tub.

Kenmore 80 series washer won't spin just makes a loud buzzing noise.

Possible that the motor is not moving , could be a faulty capacitor to the motor. Also check for the free movement of the agitator, if the shaft is tight then it can cause a drag on the motor.

My Sears model 110 will wash but won't spin. Sounds like it is locked up and the motor just hums.

-If the motor was not running at all i would say you have a bad lid switch.
- If the motor is definitely running then look under the washer at the interior cabinet about level with the bottom of the tub for signs of oil. If you see a ring around the case- you have a bad transmission.
-If no oil MAKE SURE it is still washing and doesn't just sound like it is as you may have a bad drive coupler.
-If the machine is washing, has no oil and just will not spin you may have one of the following:
-wash tub fallen and contacting outer tub due to worn drive block (check for space under agitator)
-item lodged between tubs- use flash light to look at all of the holes on bottom of tub as well as at top between white tub cover and inner wash tub balance ring
-something jammed in pump- unusual to still have wash action as pump is still running in reverse (sucking water back) but may have something that gets driven into it when trying to drain/ spin
-defective gear in transmission not allowing neutral brake to shift out to spin
Good luck!

Washing Machine stops and leaks

A Clothes Washer with the complaint "Leaks in Front" (on floor) can be;

Defective Water-Pump (Very common of non-belt models) - Many water-pumps become defective due to the constant wear and misc. items becoming lodged (coins, necklaces, shoe laces, screws, etc.) or breaking the plastic housing or connections. The water pump is fairly simply to replace and is located on the inside front of the machine.

The water pump is typically a white or off white plastic and will have (2) black drain hoses connected; one coming from the tub and the other going to the drain out the back/rear of the machine. Electric pumps with typically of 2 wires going to and connected to the pump. ** Note: When disconnecting and removing the water-pump, becareful of water remaining in tub that may come shooting/flowing out.

2 problems with speed queen washing machine

The motor is not starting this is the humming noise not a good sound, try it in spin to see if the motor runs in this direction. You may have a motor issue because of the water leaking on the motor?

Now that you have the front panel removed you can look for leaks, you will need a flash lite, start a cycle on the small setting and look for where the water is coming from. If it is coming from the center of the tub above an aluminum case which is the transmission you need a tub seal, if the water is coming from somewhere else it could be a pump, or hose, or ?
