LS-1520 Brother sewing machine hook pick thread up takes it around half way and gets stuck...any ideas. the timing seems to be right??!!

try changing needles
clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for loose thread or lint
make sure the bobbin is inserted into the bobbin case correctly--if the
machine won't pick the thread up from the bobbin correctly take the bobbin
out of the case & turn it around & try it that way.

Brother LS 1520 I was in zig zag mode and broke a needle. Now that I have replaced the needle, the needle thread will not pick up bobbin thread.

Are you sure that you replaced your needle right? The flat side must face the rear of the machine and did you put your needle on a straight stitch? I hope it didn't mess up your timing. But try this and I have my fingers crossed for you that it is something simple.

The machine is a new, never been used before brother 1520 mechanical sewing machine. The top thread keeps jaming up around the bobbin and it appears to me that the thread is catching on the metal plate on...

Driver?

Refer to the manual for threading and bobbin winding.

Make sure the bobbin is properly installed.

Graphics are always good to have, but sometimes important steps can be missed. Be sure to read the instructions.

Open the manual and lay it next to the machine and follow every step of every feature. No matter how experienced, it is important to learn the ins and outs of every machine you intend to use.

If the problem continues, return the machine.

How do I put thread on the bobbin?

Most machines have a bobbin winder on top of the machine under the top cover. The thread may or may not go through the tension above the needle, depending on the machine. There is a small spool holder on top that holds the bobbin and you thread your thread through the bobbin and start the winder. Some machines need the right wheel to be pulled out so the needle does not go up and down, just winds the bobbin. Wind it carefully as if you have loose threads, it can jam the machine and make a thread tangle.
