The caraffe lid must be on the Coffee maker while making coffee.
The lid pushes a opens the hut-of valve in the filter.
If the lid is not on the caraffe, the valve will prevent coffee from dripping out of the filter.
This is to prevent coffee leaking on the lower carafe heating element when you remove the caraffe to quickly pour some coffee. the water accumulates while you do this, so if the machine is still brewing, you should put the carafe with lid back in the cofee maker, to release the accumulated liquid in the filter.
1 Perform the initial setup on the coffee maker. Make sure the coffee maker is not plugged in. Slide the empty funnel into the funnel guides, fill the decanter with cold water, open the lid and pour water from the decanter into the brewer, put the decanter back on the base, then close the lid and wait three minutes for the internal tank to partially fill. Open the lid, fill the decanter with cold water again, and once more pour the water directly into the brewer. Put the decanter back on the base and wait for water to flow out of the funnel and into the decanter. Once it has stopped flowing, pour out any water that is in the decanted and plug in the coffee maker. Press the on switch to turn the coffee maker on and heat up the water in the tank.
2 Ensure the lid is completely closed. If the lid is open, the Bunn coffee maker will not brew coffee.
3 Check the see how much water is in the water tank. The Bunn coffee maker will not begin brewing coffee if less than 20 ounces (4 cups) of water is present in the water reservoir tank.
4 Delime the coffee maker. Unplug the coffee brewer and allow it to cool down. Remove the sprayhead by turning it by hand and set it aside. Insert the flexible deliming tool into the sprayhead tube until all but two inches are showing. You may need to twist and force the tool to go in. Slide the tool in and out several times to loosen lime buildup.
Check the sprayhead for lime buildup. If there are flakes of minerals, they can be removed with a toothpick. Scrub the sprayhead with soap and water. Rinse the sprayhead with water and replace it in the coffee maker. Pour water into the water tank and turn the coffee maker on, allowing water to run through without making any coffee. This will flush any lime fragments through the system. Empty the decanter

My Krups was not working after I accidentally forgot to place the black plastic lid on the coffee carafe BEFORE starting to brew a new batch of coffee. The coffee will not drip into the carafe without the lid
in place. Because the lid is hidden when placed in the coffee maker, it's easy to forget! The coffee all backed up in the filter area and overflowed. The display got wet. Not good.....
If your buttons and or display is not working ( mine got wet with coffee) simply flip the coffee maker over. Unscrew the bottom. expose the display circuit board carefully, DRY it with a HAIR DRYER and put the unit back together! Presto! Mine is working again.
If you need a new circuit board, you can get one for $35 from Appliances.com I found. They also have the Duo filter and extra parts cheaper than the Krups website.
I called Select Brands at 913-663-4500 to order the replacement caraffe for this coffee maker. Their email is [email protected] The website is under construction so orders cannot be placed online. I broke my coffee maker yesterday and still have my lid - guess I'd better keep the lid....
Sadly, I have about 10 people who have this coffee maker. It is a wonderful little coffee maker and is very delicate.
the worst problem all the people here say is the lid leaks like a waterfall or it leaks by dripping non stop while pouring.
I had to call Bunn, who made this machine, and they have yet to figure out a solution to this problem other than having people who own this machine buy a whole new carafe with new seals.
You might try your local applianace repair store. Sometimes their engineers are smart guys who knows exactly what seals will work or where to get the parts you need better than the actual manufacter.
