My computer gives message "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". I don't have a reboot disk.

Try booting to the Menu and Command prompt and Run the Command Prompt, once command prompt is open, type the following command and then press Enter sfc /scannow
nota: there's space between sfc and /scannow
the problem is that it's lost or damaged the boot device, sometime is recover and fixing.

Ntfs sys corrupt

Hi Jennilynn,
Running an SFC scan repairs/replaces the corrupted system file.
-Restart your computer and tap on the F8 key until you reach the Advanced Boot Options menu.
-SelectSafe Mode with command prompt.
-TypeSFC /scannow (there is a space betweenC and /) at the command prompt.
I've used this fix before and it usually works. If it's still not working, give me a shout and I'd be happy o look more into it with you.

Thanks,
Gary

My computer is stuck at the blue HP logo when I power on will not move forward to give me bios options nor does pressing F8 F10 F2 etc. work. Please Help?

Run the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

When startup repair finishes even if it says it could not fix the problem try rebooting and select to run windows if it gives you that option.

When I try to give the computer a command it will not do anything. It freezes up and continues to cut me off of the internet. Can you help? Thank you.

Please explain more about the command you are giving to your computer. Normally freezing issue can be resolved by:

-- cleaning system junk
-- optimizing computer services
-- optimizing internet
-- repairing registry
-- defraging registry
-- clearing browsers junk

do these things with some secure tool such as Intel Software Partner Reginout.

Thanks

My Ideapad Y430 is not booting up ! It just hangs on startup and there is no action. I booted in Safe mode, restored the system to an earlier date - but the problem persists. help please ....

If you can boot into safe mode, then you can run a repair. If you have Vista, then just boot from the cd and choose repair from the choice menu. You can also run repair from xp, when it gives you the choice menu of three things to choose from, choose to install windows, then the next thing, it will find your current windows installations and ask if you would rather repair the current one, choose yes and see if windows will fix itself. If that doesn't help, run the disc again and get into the command prompt and try fix the master boot record or fix boot. When the command prompt comes up type in FIXBOOT, there is also the command FIXMBR. click ok, restart and see if the machine boots up. Otherwise try to run diagnostics on windows from safe mode if possible.
