I have the PX865PE pro board, i want to install a western digital sata/16mb cache WD5000aakks hard drive, it wont indentify the hard drive, what do i need to do to resolve this problem, I'm tryin to upgrade the hard drive.

the problem is with compatibility with Quickport combo ,cache of this is upto 8mb while that of WD disk is 64mb power is not sufficient to handle it so try a quickport pro
This is the real capacity of your 500 GB hard disk - they are measuring it incorrectly for commercial reasons (in reality it's just 488GB) and there is a part that is reserved internally. There is nothing else.
Yes, either of these drives will work. The cache is not all that important it is just where data is stored temporarily in case you have to access it again soon after a file is written to the hard drive. The best thing you could do in this case is see if your motherboard has a sata connection which I would assume it does and buy a sata hard drive. It will be much faster than either of those drives, just make sure you also get a sata power adapter if your power supply doesn't already have one and a sata cable.
Windows XP does not have built in SATA drivers. You will need to download the XP drivers from Western Digital's website and install before the computer will allow you to format and use your new drive. Hope this helps.
