My DSL connection has suddenly stopped working. I have a basic black Paradyne modem provided by my phone company and a D-Link wireless router. I have tried rebooting and resetting the modem and router. I have tried connecting the modem directly to the computer. In this set-up, I can't repair the IP address. When I add the router back in, the IP address will renew, but still not connect. Router shows no internet connectivity, although status and ethernet lights are on and steady on modem. Any thoughts?

hmmm...only thing that makes sense here is that your dSL is unhappy...did you check that phone line into the modem? that's what the internet light means when it's out, actually..if its not the line, then it's the modem..
not much else that is off on this.

What a static ip is, is the ip address that the router automatically assigns to other equipment. (computers, xbox, ect.) Find D-links customer support line for help.
