Thanks for the suggestion. The alignment ,or the colimation of the lenses, has been knocked out of kilter by rough baggage handling. What I really need is a DIY Colimation Lesson

    Thanks Anyway

An excellent, but highly technical (though readable) description of how to do it.

Yukon Ranger 5 x 42 night vision goggles just stopped working, I put in new batteries, but when I press the ON button the on light, which is red, just flashes maybe 10 times and then all goes black. ???

Hello, let do this. IR illuminator has a montary switch, that is when you push it comes on, and when you release it the IR goes off and it has a red LED to indicate the IR illuminator is being activated.

When you turn you binocular on there will be a green LED activated. This switch is DTSA---double throw sing activated. That is, one throw of the switch it turns on the binocular, the throw will turn off the binocular.

Also within the control panel there is timing circuit to keep the IR illumniator on for ten second the shuts off. Make sure you have the right switches etc. Let me know, then we can brain storm on this matter. stewbison

No apparent exterior damage but now my nikon's have "double vision" clear on each individual tube but doubled vision when veiwing normal. any suggestions?

The prisms have shifted inside of the binoculars. This is not an easy job as you have to make corrections to the angle of the prisms for leaning field and collimation. Two suggestions:
1. If they are under warranty take them to a repair agent.
2. If you want to do it yourself, there are instructions on the web about how to go about effecting a collimation. Too long to go into detail here.

Try grabbing the binoculars in both hands and twisting the body in the opposite direction of the double vision until the images coincide.

Double Vision Pentax 10x50 PCF III

If you have double vision it is out of collimation (alignment of the optical axis). You need to send this to the manufacturer for repair.

Double vision

I'm assuming you have set the dioptre correctly for your eyes.

Normally this is caused by a collimation error when one (or both) prisms move. This can be by a small amount.

Your going to have to take them in for service/repair to fix this as is not a DIY problem. (Unless of course you have a collimator lying around)

Double vision

The distance between the centers of the eyepieces of your binocular must be the same as the distance between your pupils. This distance is adjusted as follows: 1. Focus on a distant object. 2. Pivot the two halves of your binocular farther or closer apart until you can see a single unobstructed, circular field of view. Make sure to focus on a distant object when you do this because when you focus on a close object you always see two slightly overlapping circular fields. Your binocular may have a scale on the top, between the eyepieces, to help you remember this setting.

Binocular double vision

you binoculars are probobly out of alignment. Having them realigned costs about $100. If the binoculars aren't expensive, you might want to try this yourself. Basically, one of the front lenses is off-center, and you can rotate it in its mount until the alignment is right. (I.e., it's off center in the right direction.) You will need an optical spanner (which Americans redundantly call a "spanner wrench") or an improvised substitute in order to do this.
