Try to press and hold Fn and F8 - this is to toggle screen setting to ext and back to LCD on laptop. if nothing happens turn off computer by pressing power button, unplug the ac adapter, remove the battery. remvoe residual electricity from computer by pressing power button 10 times. just plug again the ac and leave the battery out. Pres and hold the letter D and while holding that press the power button once and release both of them. it will perform the built in self test on the lcd. if nothing happens, turn off computer. press anf hold Fn and while holding it press power button. it will perform diagnosis on computer. if still nothing happens need to repalce motherboard and LCD.

You may have a bad cell in the lcd display, Plug an external monitor to your laptop to see if its working. If it works well, you will need to replace the lcd. Not cheap

SOURCE: laptop fell off moving vehicle and now the screen

You should contact the manufacturer. The laptop is broken. Make sure you don't tell them it fell from a moving vehicle.. Probably not the best way to start or end that conversation. I'd go with... "It worked yesterday, but today the LCD wont display anything".. You're not lying. Either way if it's under warranty you're more likely to have it fixed. Otherwise, the LCD replacement is almost always more costly than simply replacing the laptop. Best of luck!

My Macbook Pro fell off the coffee table and there is now a horizontal line about a 3rd of the way down the screen and the bottom and left side has lines. Is this fixable and what would it cost?

Whether it could be repaired and how much it would cost depends on how much damage was done. It is still possible to find replacement screens and cables, despite the fact this model was discontinued in October 2006. Here is one possible source Mac Screen Repair 24 Hour Screen Glass Replacement (shared for informational purposes only.) If there is also damage to the GPU or motherboard, it would make more sense to get another new or refurbished unit. The labor costs to find and fix anything more complicated than the display would be more than the laptop is worth, IMO, and it still wouldn't be reliable.

Accidentally my netbook fell down, now the display screen is not working

You get nothing? Black? You didn't post the Make, Model of Laptop or the OS. Is the monitor broken? So here's a general idea. There is a ribbon cable that connects the monitor to the motherboard, it's on the back of the monitor. Google your Make, Model of laptop for a video on screen replacement. Check ALL graphics cables. How does it shut off the monitor when you open and close the lid? Some laptops have a tiny switch near the hinges. When the hinge is damaged, out of line, etc., it will not function properly. That's a good place to start. Take a look at this video tips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yi6GNFcP3w

If the screen is not damaged it will be probably, cable between motherboard. You need to open the laptop and check if there is no loose in connection between motherboard and LCD

Why isnt my laptop screen displaying yet its powered on

Try holding down the function key and F5 (Fn+F5).
It may think you are using an external display, which would shut off your screen.
Can you see anything when you restart the computer by holding the power button and turning it back on? If you don't see anything after shutting the computer down and restarting, you have a display problem that needs to be repaired by a tech. Good luck!

Hello, I tripped over the power cord and the Acer Aspire One fell to the floor from the fireplace so about 3 1/2 feet. Now it will not show anything on the screen but green power light does come on and if...

My thoughts is that one if not a couple of the PC boards inside is cracked or broke. More than likely you broke the inverter power board which lights up your display.
May be a time for a new laptop. Would cost more to repair than to buy you an new laptop.
My thoughts is you may find another one on E-bay that has some minor issues or in need of a hard drive and you could take the hard drive out of yours and put it in the new/used one.

Laptop malfunctioning

Connect any Desktop monitor to the Laptop and check whether the Display. if the display is fine on the Desktop monitor screen then it can be identified as the Laptop screen malfunctioning.
And if the Display has the same issue that on the Laptop screen
then it can be treated as the Display card issue.
However, it seems to be Harwre related issue. Get the laptop veriufied under Technical supervision to repair the Laptop's display card or the Laptop screen to be replaced if the display is fine on the Externally connectd Monitor.
