Try unplugging the TV's power cable from the wall outlet for a minute or two. Then plug it back in. This will allow the capacitors inside to discharge and then recharge somewhat (you can hear that with the high pitched rising tone when you shut off and turn on this tv), and also 'reset' the power supply due to a power surge or static build-up. I had the same problems you were having and tried a bunch of things, then finally power cycled the TV (as described above) with great success. Good luck.

Won't turn on no lights

Panasonic TV's will blink the power light to indicate which part of the tv is failing. If you don't get a blinking light at all, then you have a power supply problem.

This is because the power switch operated the socket that your TV is plugged into. Unplug it and plug it in another socket that is not operated by a switch. Appliances should not be plugged into a socket operated by a switch because of the inconsistency of power to the socket. Lights are about the only thing that should be plugged in.
