It stopped working. It did this about 3 years ago and I had to reset it but I don't remember the procedure to reset. Something about unplugging it then plug it in then turn it on wait 5 minutes then put a thick piece of card stock in and wait 3 minutes. Turn in circles while you wait rub your belly and pat your head. I just don't remember the order.

Again, here is the only online manual provided from Aurora for 1540. It is similar to 1500 manual already published, unfortunately it is just a bit more than a factsheet.
The one you described, more than a reset procedure seems a procedure to unlock the shredder. The only reset procedure I know for this device is leaving it unplugged for 30 minutes, the rest must have been needed to unlock it, in case one of the sensors/switches is stuck.
For example If your shredder run only in reverse mode but not in auto do the following:
A. In "Auto" mode, the motor will not start running until paper is inserted into the paper slot.
1. Switch to "Auto" mode and insert paper into the middle of the shredder.
B. The sensor that activates the shredder in "Auto" mode is located
directly in the center of the paper slot. If the paper you are
inserting is too narrow, it may not be activating the sensor.
1. Insert paper into the middle of the slot.
C
. The sensor which activates the shredder may have become blocked with paper.
1. Insert an index card (or something similar such as a postcard or
greeting card), directly into the center of the paper slot. Apply
force. This will usually clear any paper blocking the sensor or force
it closed.
This from aurora troubleshooting
If your shredder does not turn on at all it is unlikely you can apply a reset procedure. If you give us more details on the fault on your shredder (eg runs only in rev etc. and eventually which error light is on if any) we can troubleshoot the problem.
Check also the internal switch , a small piece of paper stuck inside a switch can prevent if from working.

Does it have a pull-out waste basket? Did you look at the waste-basket full switch?
Here is some troubleshooting steps for Aurora shredders: http://www.auroracorp.com/troubleshootin...
Go through all the steps on this page and try again.
Especially check the safety switch under the unit, it should be pressed in by the waste basket.
The manual for the AS1500CD is here: http://www.auroracorp.com/images/product...
Should be quite close to your model.
The North American contact info for Aurora is here: http://www.auroraglobal.com/ACA/EN/pnew2...
After extensive digging I have determined that the AS1502X model has been discontinued and removed from the Aurora sites.
If no lights come on at all then there as most likely an electronic fault in the unit. Check the outlet, try it in a different room??? Otherwise, something is faulty inside. Open the housing and look at the circuit, it should be fairly simply, look for something that looks burnt or loose.
Are you sure the safety switch under the unit is getting depressed by the trash bin. Try holding the switch with your hand to see if life comes back to the machine.
After you said yesterday that there were no lights on it, I suspected that something was burnt.

Turn off the dishwasher and unplug it from the power supply. Wait 10 minutes and restore power.
Select a "Hi Temp" wash cycle, followed by a heated dry setting on the dishwasher.
Repeat step 3. This will reset the dishwasher.

I cannot find the manufacurer for Aurora and yes I have been trying to find a manual for it.
We just purchased a $5 fax for a quick fix for another situation and it didn't come with a manual but I was able to find one within 5 seconds on the internet. It has 63 pages to it which I printed. Do you think I can find a manual for a $250 shredder, no. So if anyone has one or knows where I can go to get one, your assistance would be most appreciated. UsmcUS
Anyone have an answer yet?
Hi,
No lights come on when I plug it in. The trash bin appears to be all the way in. There is no life. USMCUS
I do not know the proper term so reset may not be the correct word to use. There are no lights on when I plug it in no life whatsoever.
It doesn't run at all. Not in reverse nothing no lights on no life in it.
Thanks.
AS1502X
Thank you. I am waiting for a reply from the company.
I have tried another outlet which wouldn't matter because the pencil sharpner is in the same outlet and works fine (but I did try a different outlet and nothing). I cannot find a safety switch under the unit. It is on wheels so a button on the bottom does not make sense unless the wheels sense something and I don't think it's that complicated plus I have looked all over the bottom for a switch and nothing. The only switch I can find is when I remove the trash bin it has an edge that fits in a slot when it is put back in place it depresses a red button. Hard to tell if that is working with the bin and the other part of the machine in the way. I work with several engineers and I will see if they have time to look at it. Thanks anyway. USmcUS
I just spoke with an aurora rep who had me press the red switch inside the unit and press reverse. It didn't work so she said the motor is burned up so I'm SOL. Thanks anyway. I appreciate all the work. Semper Fi USMCUS
