Connect yellow, red, and white RCA jacks (video, audio rt and lt) to the "out" on the VCR. If your VCR isn't stereo it will only have one audio plug.

Connect the other end of the jacks 9yellow, red, and white) to the "in" jacks probably marked Aux in, on the DVD recorder.

Now follow the instructions on the DVD recorder to set to Aux in (some have two aux front and back). Should have a button for it on the remote.

With the dvd, tv , and vcr on, you should see the VCR on the screen. Start the tape and press record on the dvd, you are set.

Have a toshiba tp 61H95 proj TV- want to connect panasonic dvd recorder and toshiba vhs recorder so I can copy family videos to dvd- can't get hook ups set up for both to work.

Select AV-1 or some thing in TV and plug DVD recorder Video-Audio output in AV-1 input of TV, playback any DVD and confirm its picture and sound in TV. Press Stop button of DVD recorder to stop playback.
Now plug Video-Audio output of VCR in DVD recorder input and select AV Input in DVD recorder, insert VHS tape in VCR and playback it and confirm you get VHS picture and sound in TV via DVD recorder.
Hookup between TV, DVD recorder and VCR is completed.
Playback VHS tape in VCR, Insert blank DVD disc in DVD recorder and press Record while you see VHS tape picture in TV.
Hope this info will help you.

Connect DVD recorder to Video player/recorder- transfer VHStodisc

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.

I cannot record using a DVD/VHS player.

You can record. From antenna to converter box, from converter box to vcr. From vcr to TV.
TV on Channnel 3 VCR on channel 3, and set channel on converter box. Then Record.

Time recording works the same way, but you can set for only one channel at a time. Tht is the only restriction that I have not overcome. The converter box sets the channel. Gee Whizz

Tv/digital converter box & vcr-dvd hook-up

I have a vhs and dvd player all in one
I have a converter box hooked up to my tv and vcr , dvd player combined
I can play my movies on the tv. ok.
you have to have your tv and vcr set on channel 3. if that is what your main tv is set up with. Or 4 if you have your tv set up with that.
Mine plays ok. My settings are for channel 3
My suggestion would be to check your hook ups. maybe they are not hooked up correctly
I had to go to www.google.com and did searches to help with hook up.
I can also record station I am watching with vcr on vsh tapes. I do not have a dvd recorder.
I found out that you have to have 2 converter boxes hooked to one tv., in order to record on on station while watching another. I have not tried that, as I don't have 2 converter boxes for one tv. I found that by doing google search also. Good Luck

I want to transfer material from video cassette to dvd. I have a Sony cassette recorder slv- se610g and a sony dvd recorder rdr-gx3. Can you please tell me how?

Though Connection details are available in DVD recorder User Manual, yet here is procedure. Find Video Audio Out terminal on Cassette Recorder SLV-SE610G and hook Yellow-Red-White cable in matching color pins and other end of cable will hook in Video Audio Input terminals at DVD Recorder RDR-GX3 and please note, same color pins will be hooked. Insert desired VHS cassette in VCR and push Playback. select input source at DVD Recorder and confirm playback picture and sound of vcr at TV. Now system is ready to record VHS movie on DVD.
If you need further info, please post back here.

Sony SLV 678HF

This is a VHS VCR and should be like any standard vcr to hookup. Did you obtain this VCR recently; and was it used? What are you calling the 'monitor'? Is it a standard TV. Since you said pre-recorded tapes work OK, I think your cable connections are fine. With that in mind, if this is a used VCR, I think your 'recording/playback' heads need to be cleaned. This is not a big deal to someone who can look inside with some competence if they are careful. But the heads are very delicate and can be damaged quite easily. If you want to give it a try or discuss this in more detail, I can guide you (but no guarantees).

Recording Snow

If you hook your VCR up to the RCA jacks on the front of the DVD recorder, push 002 on the remote to use the front input jacks. (001 if you hook your VCR up to the rear input jacks)

Push record on the DVD recorder, and push Play on the VCR.
(Pg. 35 in the manual)

When you push play on the VCR, you should be able to see the movie being played on your TV. If you cannot, make sure your RCA cables are good and hooked up correctly.

That's all you have to do, so if it's not recording I would try to take the unit back for an exchange.
