after changing the lamp, I still had the same problem as you. I contacted sony and they offered me a brand new 40 inch bravia flat screen tv replacement...at no cost! If I chose a 46" or 55" there would be a charge between $325
This problem is caused by a defect in the optical block. It causes about 1 - 1.5" tint usually green, orange, or yellow at the top of the screen. The part is very expensive, retails around $600-800 usually. You cannot fix it without replacing the optical block. They did have an extended warranties for this particular issue because of a class action lawsuit on certain models. Call Sony to see if your model is one of the ones they extended the warranties.
Sony has extended the warranty on the optical block which you are experiencing a problem with until June 30 2010. Read about it here. http://www.agoraquest.com/display_alert.php?alert_id=17
