You can't post conmments that contain an email address.
Hey yeah i had the same problem with my sansa e250r. when mine does that i
1. turn it off
2. put the hold button on
3. hold down the rec. button
4. turn it back on
that will get you into recovery mode connect your data cable once you have hooked it up to your computer open my computer and you should see a 16mb drive there instead of your normal mp3.
once you see that open it up.
now go to http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1449 scroll down and click on download firmware link
once you have downloaded that file unzip it and copy the file that is inside to the 16mb drive that you opened up in my computer.
once you have done all the above,,
1. take the hold button off
2. disconnect the data cable
3. wait for it to reboot.
if the above dosent work you might wanna take it to the dealer.
hopefully this works for you as well as it did me. good luck
I had same problem, sansa made it worse
i found some good firmware on this website
it is normal e250 firmware but it works
if you want rhapsody on it this is not for you
your player will act like a normal e250 not a rhapsody e250
i will post the link when i remember it
after downloading it i put it on.
NOTE you must get the firmware updater of of sansa because the firmware is older
this firmware will allow your system to boot up correctly but it is required you download the firmware updater from sandisk.com and it will be an updated working fine e250r--
BUT BEFORE YOU DO THIS, REMEMBER THIS WILL MAKE THE PLAYER EXACTLY LIKE A BASIC E250 AND NOT LIKE A RHAPSODY E250. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT AFTER YOU DO THIS, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HAVE SUBSCRIPTION MUSIC LIKE RHAPSODY OR WINDOWS PLAYS FOR SURE--BUT THOSE ARE LAME ANYWAY.
I WILL POST THE LINK LATER.

If that won't help, updating the player should be performed.

note:
Before updating, backup the content from the player to your computer !

Try eBay. Look for a seller that has a high number (high hundreds or thousands) of sales (mp3 players) and appears by name to be a tech/refurb shop. There are several examples when it comes to PDAs, cell phones and the like so I assume someone has begun with mp3 players.
Once you find one or a couple (I may look for/post an example later), send them an email asking if they will exchange or refurb yours. They may want yours for parts or sell you another at a discount with yours for trade, if you want.
I called sansa and got this info on how to format the sansa and restore it back to default This helped me to detect the device and be able to put songs on it.
Turn off device put hold key on press and hold mic key while pluggin in the device to pc open sansa icon in my computer Up on top of my computer window click tools then folder options and click view tab then uncheck hide extension for known file types. Now click file new and choose text document then change the name from New Text Document.txt to sansa.fmt and click enter. It will ask you if you want to change the extention and you need to click yes. Now unplug your sansa from the pc and this will format your whole mp3 player. You will lose all your date but your sansa will be detected and working. Once it is done then turn off your device and plug it in while its off. It should show up in my documents now. The first drive is your hd on the device and the second one is for the extra micro disk.
Oh and another tip is to click show hidden files so that you can see the music folder. This way you can just drag and drop without having to use windows media player or Rhapsody.
If the 4gb micro SD is a high capacity SD (it will say micro SDHC on it) your player may not be able to read SDHC cards, my sansa can't because it's the 'older version' it will read 2gb and below micro SD cards though (it sucked when I found out because I had just bought a 6gb micro SDHC)
