Question about Fuji FinePix S7000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Flat batteries Finepix S7000. Says batteries are flat. I have 3 sets of rechargeables, all freshly charged and have tried 1 set of new Panasonic heavy duty AA batteries. I can get 3 or 4 shots before the flat battery sign comes up and the camera shuts down. HELP!! (?).

Sounds like something is "shorting out" the batteries. Open the battery door and closely inspect the metal plates in the lid. Does everything look ok? Shine a flashlight at the bottom of the compartment...how do those look? After the batteries die in the camera, try them in another device to see if they are really drained. If you can't find anything, then the problem may be internal (like a faulty capacitor, transistor, etc.) in which case, you will need to have the camera serviced. If that happens, make sure you get an estimate first....you may just decide to replace the camera if the cost is too high. Incidentally, your camera can't get a virus.

A search of the Fujifilm website provided no answers. Try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera first with a pencil eraser and then with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Also, I would switch to 3 or 4 sets of rechargeable batteries. That way, you always have a fresh set ready and you'll save money in the long run.

My Fuji Finepix S5800 tells me my brand new batteries are flat.

It sounds like you have bad batteries. I have had rechargeables that have suddenly done the same thing. I have learned that buying really cheap ones doesn't work out. If you buy a good branded set, I think you will find that they are much better. :)

Flat Batteries

I've turned many of my customers into users of the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries. Many people who have been ready to throw their camera away find the Energizers fix all their problems. Make sure to get the Energizer Ultimate Lithiums, as there are some lower output Energizers available too.

Shows empty battery even with new batteries

If they're AA, don't use "HEAVY DUTY". They don't have enough power. Use alkaline or rechargeable, and recharge at least 15 hours even if your charger show they're fully charged after a couple hours. Please leave feedback if this helps.

Does it work with "no batteries" - only plugged into power source? check your usb cable by trying to power up something else.

S9500 : rapid battery discharge

Check your focus control on the left side of the camera is not set to "continual focus" CF, as this will constantly adjust focus and run your battery down quickly.

Also NiCd batteries are not very useful -use Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMh) which last longer and don't suffer from memory effects. These batteries don't reach full capacity until after a number of recharge/drain cycles.

Kills Batteries

What kind of batteries are you using? It's a well-known fact that for instance normal alkaline batteries run flat in no time in these kinds of cameras. You'd better use powerful NiMH batteries, 2,000 mAh or above and a charger which does the job in let's say 1 hour or so. Also get an extra set of batteries. You'll never regret you bought it!
