you have a short circuit in the power supply. 1) test the power cord very well 2) test the main swithc for short or open 3)test the power supply, look for a short in transformer+coil+filter+diode+rectifier. and replace 4)test the HVRECT+fLYBACK+ horizontal output for +125Vdc +vertical output for +80Vdc ALL this go to the CRT color +12vdc+other circuit +12vdc. The first thing do you will have is RASTER, see the block. d God bless you
Yes, remove front speaker grill (pulls off) and inspection plate behind it.
There are 3 large circuit boards as you look from the front---signal to the right, power to the left and Deflection (vertical and Horizontal) in the middle.
What you want to look for is on the middle board any sign of GLYCOL which sometimes leaks from the picture tubes above it.
It is a clear liquid and even tiny amounts can short or stop the board from working; most damage should be in first 3 inches from front of the board----if you find any DO NOT TOUCH IT as it is toxic.
Glycol damage is not uncommon and the first thing you want to look for.
To repair damage--you understand the foil at each connection is copper---you have to scrape some of the green coating off near the parts and solder the exposed foil---idea is to solder a wire across any gaps to complete the circuit.
I had the same problem. The repairman said the Convergence ICs were bad, located on the big aluminum heat sinks on the center board in the TV. He replaces both, and a couple of fuses (that look like resistors).
The tv worked fine for a couple of days then did exactly the same thing. They are coming back out to fix it next week. If there is anything different, I'll post an update.
yes it can the cost is $350 sumwut dollars ,i got my tv for $54 and thats wut was wrong with it ,the board that is connected to your power cord is wut needs to be replaced sears can do the job but the labor is $200
