Why is camera saying disk error

Corrupt disk.

New discs (memory cards) need to be formatted in the camera to work properly.

I have had similar problem and i think it's a problem with the disc. Make sure the disk is clean and unscratched. Check your other discs, too, to see if they are giving you the same problem. If not, it' is most likely the disc and not the camera.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Sony might fix this for you for free (depending on your model number), including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following link for more info:

ive had my camera for a while now..prob about 6 yrs..it will not accept any discs..it gives me a formatting error

It comes that Disk not being recognized. I had the same camera before. You need to use good quality CDRs or CD-RWs. Usually Sony Mavica disks best with that camera. Maybe you cannot find Mavica in market then go for Sony, Philips, Imation miniCDR/W. also keep the lens of the internal CD writer clean. If you need further assistance please post your question

I've got the same problem with a Sony Mavica FD83 floppy disc camera. The screen says DISK ERROR C:13:01

Any idea of what may be wrong ? I think this is a common problem with these cameras....but it's priobably an easy fix. Can you help me ?
