The most obvious cause could be loose conections to the cartridge. Or even the cartridge itself. If you disconnect the wires to the cartridge and touch them with your fingers (turrntable connected to amp & powered up) you should get a buzz on each channel. If you don't the problem is not the cartridge, but a failure of the wires either inside the turntable or to the amp.

Sony ps-lx250H loud buzzing sound

That is where the problem is, get a long insulated wire, bare both ends and attach one end to the turntable and the ground screw of the amp, use one screw on the chassis on the turntable and bare the metal for good ground connection.

I just purchased a used Sony turntable PS LX 160H & am hooking it u Sony surround sound amp (there is no phono input but am using audio input) and getting sound but very low volume at max volume... How...

Just look around the web for a "Magnetic Cartridge Preamp".
You plug your turntable into this and the preamp in an aux socket of Surround Amp and the sound will be the same level as the other devices.

Have you though of using a pre-amp? You'll probably need to go turntable --> pre-amp --> soundcard input to get acceptable sound

Intermittent Sounds Problem on PS3

If you have verified the AV cable is not the issue, it's likely the AV port on the PS3 is the culprit.
Try your cable on another PS3 to be sure. Then try your PS3 and cable on another TV.
If it still misbehaving, send it back to Sony for repair.
