Can´t turn it on after formatting (using Mac DiscUtility)

Didn´t use the MPIO Utility while formatting, so I´m afraid I´ve deleted too much?

Formatted my FL350 with DiscUtility in Mac (same as formatting in windows), and now I can´t turn it on.

But when I try to turn it on pushing the play/stop button, I can see a there is some "life". The display gets at bit brighter..

    Sorry, the link doesn´t work!
    I copied out from www.mympio.com
How to format the player before restoring with the Mpio Utility.

    FL300/FL350
This is somewhat tricky so does it fast
    1. Use a pic clip or something small to press the reset button.
    2. Press and hold the Minus - and Rewind button, while holding the two press the play button
    3. The player will turn on with a screen saying format? Press menu key
    4. Quickly leave the there buttons and press the MENU.

Cant delete or add new files to my NexStar.3, I have it connected to a MacBook Pro

If you can SEE the drive on your desktop but cannot modify it's contents there is a good chance it is formatted as NTFS which is a Microsoft Windows format. Mac's can only read/copy information from these drives and not write/delete/modify them. You have 2 choices, you can erase the drive and reformat it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (Mac/Linux only) or you can format it as MS-DOS (FAT32) which is truly cross platform but slower to read and write to from a Mac. To reformat the drive you use Apple's "Disk Utility" program in your utility folder.

Mac reformatted

MP3 players expect an MS-DOS (or FAT) format.

They do not read Mac formatted memory.

Reformat the MP3 player to MS-DOS format (your files will be deleted, so back them up if necessary) and the player should read the memory once more.

I have a 230 gb FreeAgent Go external drive.

Hi,

I think the solution that meeknotweak gave is a little bit twisted. First and foremost you can not be able to format a 230gb hard drive as a FAT or even FAT32 simply because that FAT and FAT32 is only set to be used and can be used only if your drive is less than 40gb. If your drive is larger than 40gb then the only option is to format it using NTFS.

Second you can be able to format and set the volume format of the drive under the ERASE tab of the DiscUtility on Mac. Not in "RAID" tab.

This is the right way to do it......

If you plan to use the external HD into a PC or Mac, you should first plug it into a Mac Computer and format it using the Disc Utility. Choose the Erase Tab and select Volume Fomat. Make sure that you choose MS DOS. Only Mac OS can format a drive of any size to a FAT file system. If you have already formatted it you can now be able to use it vice versa.

One more thing if the HD is formatted as NTFS, Mac OS can read it but can't write on the drive. So that's why you need to make it as a FAT so that it would be readable and writable to both OS. Also make sure that the folders and files that you're transferring into the HD doesn't contain special characters. Mac OS can recognize those special characters on a file but windows can't.

I hope this clarifies everything.

Mpio fg200

Turn off the unit and connect it to the computer.
The computer should recognize the player.
Run a program called Mpio Utility (Can be found on the CD or Mpio.com)
Select format & Config
That should do the trick.

Or go to www.mympio.com
