I am an ex tv repairman. I owned my own business for about 35 years, but this is my first incounter
with a flat screen tv. this is my own tv. I have checked all the caps on the board with a meter and
found all caps check good, as good as you can check with a meter. no signs of overheating of caps.
all transistors check good with a meter, but cannot check ic's I will probley have to change the
board. Any more suggestions will be appreciated. thanks Billy Cooke

I dont have a schematic to go by but I will try
to check for the 5 volts. I would very much to
have the schematic if you have one.

Please send me the schematic, it would help a lot.
I should be able to fix the board if I had the prints.

    thanks again, Billy

Hi billy
Just read your problem and i figured that since you`re a tech yourself ,
You may find it useful to have the service manual to look at while you`re working on it.
The files is too large to upload here(3 megs) but i could send it to you by email.
Just leave me your email address if your interested.

    Hi again billy

Do you have any standby 5 volts coming out of the power supply?

You`ll need it so the main board can trigger the main supply when the set is switched on.

If the power supply aka high-voltage transformer is good, then check any relays and regulators on the circuit. Chances are one is bad. You can use a volt/ohmmeter to determine if they are bad.

No Picture on LED TV. LEDs not operating.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

When i turn on my lg plasma flat screen tv the picture comes out very faint and i cant ajust brightes

Souunds like main power regulator board fault. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

How to make regulated power supply

The easiest way to do this is to use a 3 pin regulator IC.
For a 5 volt supply go to this WEB site,

For a variable voltage power supply go to this WEB site.

Mixer not working and board getting hot

There is likely a voltage regulator or a diode burned out in the vicinity of the power supply. If you have the schematic, start at the power supply and work through the circuit to the I.C. Also look up the pinout on the internet for that I.C. With the power on test the voltages at each pin on the I.C. You should not have supply voltage readings on any of the signal pins. This is an indication that the I.C. is also burned out. Use a volt ohm meter with a D.C. voltage setting. Also hopefully your meter should have a diode test function. If not you can still test them with the resistance test function. Here is a link to an explanation:http://www.elexp.com/t_test.htm I hope this helps.

The fuse located in the rear, near wall plug, is pops instantly when connected into outlet

What you might be experiencing based on your symptom sounds like a short in the primary circuit of the power supply.

Trouble shooting the power supply of a projection television can be a bit tricky, and then you will have to replace the parts once you find them.

You should be able to get a local service center to repair this at your house for around $250.00 - $350.00,

If you want to repair this yourself you will need a volt meter of some kind, and you will need to look for shorted components. I would start with the bridge diode and then look at the regulator IC and so on. If you can get the schematic for this set, that would be a great help in trouble shooting.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

Tv turns off a second after I turn it on

Just repaired this actual model.
remove the back of the tv. Loof at the circuit board on the left as you face the back of the tv. In the middle there is a diode that burns out. Remove all ov the screws holding this circuit board to the tv. Carefully unplug all of the connections and flip the board over. See that the number on the back side of the board by the burnt diode is d1940. Have the diode replaced by a competent repairman and oberve polarity. put everthing back as you found it and try the tv. You may want to have a fire extiguisher nearby.

Low voltage power supply fuses blown

If the convergence power supply fuses blew you can bet that the convergence ICs need to be changed. The blue connector will be pressed down on the rear of the connector to release or pulled up on the back end of the socket. Ps dont forget to rate this.
