Hello i have a STR de-485 since 10 years. Everithing is ok when i use analogic conectore (cd/tner/md/tape) the problem appears when i use the digital connector (rca or optical same problem).
after 1 hour of using i have no more sound (if i selecte the cd entrance for exemple i have sound). IF i switch off and switch on no sound with the digital connector. If i switch off during 10 or 15 minutes and switch on ... the sound with digital connector is OK but only for one hour.
il open the cover and put my str de 485 with nothing around and it was the same (maybe 15 minute more). i think that with the temperature something disconnect... but i don't know where. if some one have a idea.

It sounds like the receiver is either failing or going into a thermal protection mode.
There should be NO reason why the input source (digital versus analog) should make a difference unless you play the digital sources obscenely louder than the analog ones.
If you suspect heat, you should be able to feel it.
Can you verify that the digital sources ONLY do this?
