Led's only work one way, so it does'nt matter what colours they are. The led's that they connect to will only work when the plug is the correct way. You wont do any harm if they are wrong, you just turn them round. Plug them in one way and if the led for the hard drive does'nt come on then it's the other way. Same with the power light. The power switch when pressed just makes a momentary connection across 2 pins, so it does'nt matter which way, it's just like touching the pins quickly with a piece of metal.
Hi, It sound like bad capacitors on the board. If you remove the top cover and then look under the DVD try to identify bad capacitors. Ill attach a picture of bad capacitors for you, they are pretty easy to identify (the pop up or leak fluid)
If it is bad capacitors you could try to buy new ones and solder them back, but thats a totally different story.
you either have a bad proccesor, or memory, one other thing come to mind is that the pwoer supply may need to be cleaned out use a hair drier and point it at the power supply open the case and do the same for the whole inside pluse the insde holes of the pwer suppply
Dell GX280 has been known to have issues with mother board because of bad capacitors that were sent out in them at that time. I have had so many issues with them when i working as an it. If you can open up your pc and look on mother board for expanded capacitors or even leaking. if they are not round it means that is the problem. Dells are very easy to open. On top and bottom there are kinda buttons u can press and just open towards the side that has lock for like locker lock and look inside.
Confirm no leaking or bulging capacitors on your mothboard. refer to here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
As this was a common problem with the GX280. If found, you will need to replace the capacitors.
The other check is to make sure the heatsink is fitted correctly, perhaps reaply the thermal paste if you have any. I know that high temps would switch the GX280 off.
