The light bulbs on the above stove inverter

The light bulbs on the above- stove inverter microwave have burnt out. They were 120v 30w. The only bulbs I could find to replace them were Sylvania 25w which fit the sockets.
However, the lamps will not turn off or dim.....could it be the bulbs causing this problem or would it have to be the switch. Note, it was working properly before the bulbs burnt out
Thanks
Bob

Just crazy bad timing...heating things on your stove makes condensation...one drop of water on the circut board is acting like the switch is on.

The actual wattage of the bulb cannot really change anything, perhaps from 10 watts to 30 watts, may, but NOT 25 watts to 30 watts, There simply isn't enough anything to detect if resistance based... I suspect your dimmer is faulty...

Testimonial: "Thanks, it seemed odd that it could just be a lower wattage bulb"

When the microwave is cooking the light inside dims. When done cooking the light returns to full brightness. Is that normal or is there a problem with the microwave?

I've seen this with most microwave ovens I've had. When the microwave emitter kicks in to cook, the unit uses much more power, providing less to the internal bulb, which dims a bit. Unless it's very dramatic, for example the bulb turning off or going almost out, it's normal behavior. If the bulb is going very dim or out, it could be that the circuit it's connected to isn't providing enough amperage to adequately run the oven. In the case of your microwave, it's rated at 15 amps, so should have adequate power on a standard household circuit by itself.

Try to get the bulb number off one of them (usually printed on them) and Google for a source in your area.

Light bulb above stove under microwave hood

According to the GE manual it is a 120 v 20 watt halogen bulb, the GE product number is WB36X10213. That is the cooktop light/nightlight that would be on the stove hood. HTH!

I have a roper mounted microwave above my stove. i just need to know what kind of bulb goes underneath it.

Since you obviously intend replacing the bulb yourself (good for you!) you should first remove the old bulb and that will make it easier to find a new one. Chances are, its a common bulb, readily available wherever light bulbs are sold. Or, at the very least, a hardware store like Tru-Value or Home Base.
