Can you be more vague, er, specific? What works, what doesn't? New problem? Never worked? What source(s)? Details In = Details Out

Center channel problem

Sound circuit card has likely failed. Without the proper electrical tools (oscilloscope) it is hard to fix. Take it in and see what they say it will cost to repair. Take to at least two different shops.

How is TV sound coming into your Yamaha? If it's from the TV analog audio then maybe the TV's audio output is muted.

If it's from the Cable Box maybe ITs audio is muted. I'd refer to the guide for the Cable Box.

MUTE on the receiver is not source-specific.

if you have everything connected properly, then it wont necessarily utilize ALL of the speakers, unless you have a true 7.1 signal coming in. is it using optical or coaxial? make sure that the options on the receiver are set right......the rears on 5.1 and 7.1 dont work unless they are told to by the receiver....and the signal coming in from the external source ( dvd player, ps2, ps3, xbox....) tell the receiver what it is going to need, in order to utilize the full signal. everything is labeled, and it sounds like you know what you're doing, when it comes to hooking this up, which is always good. it sounds to me, like something isnt configured properly, so i would start there. it may take a while, but you get the idea.....

Sound coming out of wrong speakers

I know nothing about your model but the very first thing that I would do is to pull the power cord from the wall outlet for at least 10 minutes and then plug it back in. This may reset everything.
