Have you tried using a different controller? Have you repositioned your sensor? - sounds like either a faulty controller or dodgy sensor

What's a straight ball release?

This is actually my favorite throwing style. What you need to dois to grab the ball with you hand creating a "w" shape, then you need to aim tothe center lane and a click to the left and powerfully throw the ball asstraight as you can in the direction you've aimed to, try practicing it alittle bit to master this throw.

What's the average ball speed?

The average ball speed for a bowling is about 10 miles per hour to15 miles per hour with professional bowlers averaging about 20 to 25 miles perhour, the power of the throw depends on the bowling game type you're playingand your physical strength. You can improve your throwing speed by practicingyour throws and strengthening you forearm.

My wii remote doesnt work properly. when playing bowling for instance instead of throwing the ball forward it throws it behind you, ( like what happens if you dont release the buttons correctly ) have...

To recalibrate you're Wii Mote put it on a flat table with it's button side on the table, leave it that way for 10sec.

Adjust de light sensitivety of the sensorbar in the Wii settings, in very light rooms the sensorbar will pick up the the light in stead of the Wii mote if settetup to sensitive.

Try also if all of this does'nt work new battery's for your Wii Mote other wise contact Nintendo.

Can ball speed in Wii bowling vary from console/remote to another

Absolutely, every machine has slight differences, it maybe the setup and orientation of the sensor bar or maybe his carpet is a little more fluffy effecting the way you stand. Who knows? You have to expect that not every Wii will "feel" exactly the same every time.

Good luck, and have fun.
