IPOD not recognized as input source

If this is the case, the device may not appear in iTunes and there may be an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. b> Software b> The latest version of iTunes is recommended to best communicate with the various models of iPod. Go to the iTunes website or click "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes to install the most recent update. Further, the computer must be running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 for PCs, or OS X v.10.4.11 or later for Macs. b> Battery b> The iPod's battery must have sufficient charge to be recognized in iTunes; charge it either via USB connection or another power source if the indicator shows a low battery. Once the battery has charged, try to connect the iPod to the computer via USB cable again.

im having this problem too,do you have one of the new ipods,i believe the alpine cda9883 is 2007 model,so i think the reason the ipod wont work is that its too new and the alpine dont recognize it,maybe you can try getting an older version of itunes not the new itunes9

your ipod might be too new,and your cd player too old the alpine cda 9883 is a 2007 model what kind of ipod do you have,if uyou have an older ipod and got the new itunes9 then try downloading an older version of itunes from itunes.com .....good luck

do you have itunes installed ? if not install itunes and if so try and see if it is recognized on another computer if it is seen by another computer try and uninstall the software on your system and update and reinstall it

put your ipod in disk mode by following these steps.
press and hold the Menu and Center buttons on the clickwheel. when you see the apple appear, switch your fingers to the center and play/pause buttons.
whena check mark appears plug it into you computer and it should detect and mount.
add music and have fun.

i had the same problem. make sure that there isnt any pocket lint in the ipod. also make sure that nothing is bent.

Have you tried installing the ipod program cd from your ipod on a separate file. Under a different username? It may be conflicting with the older model ipod protocols. If that dosen't work try going to apple.com for further assistance.

try a program called sharepod see if that works.
