How can i update my iPod model # MC086LL

The iPod touch is not only a music player, but also your gateway to the world via the Internet. In order to connect to the iTunes music store and use the email and web-browsing features of your iPod touch, you must first connect to a wireless network.

Touch the "Settings" icon on the home screen of the iPod touch. The iPod does not require you to press down very hard to select an icon. Using your finger, lightly tap the application you want to activate it. Choose the Wi-Fi setting and turn it on. You may need to wait a moment while the device locates available networks. Select the wireless network you want to connect to. You may have more than one option based on your location. If you are prompted for a password, enter it and touch "Join." Opt to have your iPod alert you when there is a new network you can join. This can be useful if you are no longer in range of a network you have previously used. To receive these messages, turn on the "Ask to Join Networks" feature. Tell the iPod touch to "forget" a wireless network that you no longer want to use, so it will not automatically try to connect you. Under the Wi-Fi settings, tap the ">" button next to the network you want to delete and then touch "Forget this network." Expect that some wireless networks detected by your iPod touch will ask you to sign up for a fee-based service. If this is acceptable to you, open up the Safari application from the home screen. You will be taken to a website that explains the terms of service and accepts credit card payments for wireless Internet access.
When the iPod touch was introduced in 2007, it quickly became one of the best-selling portable music players on the market. What separated the iPod touch from its competitors was its ability to access the Internet through Wi-Fi networks. If you're ready to surf the web and send e-mail with your new iPod touch, it's easy to get connected. Just a few taps, and you'll be on your way.

Tap the "Settings" icon on your iPod touch's home screen. Tap the arrow on the far right of the "Wi-Fi" bar on the "Settings" screen. Move the slider on the "Wi-Fi" bar to the "On" position. Move the slider on the "Ask to Join Networks" bar to the "On" position if you wish to be notified before your iPod touch connects to a new network. Moving the slider to the "Off" position means you must select a Wi-Fi network manually before your iPod touch will connect. Press the "Home" button to return to your iPod touch's home screen. You will see the Wi-Fi icon appear in the top left corner of your screen with up to four bars illuminated to indicate that Wi-Fi is available and to show its signal strength. iPod touch Support

How to Connect my Apple iPod Touch 8 GB to Internet

Apple iPod touch is a touch screen version of its popular iPod device, similar in appearance and function of the iPhone. Like the iPhone, iPod touch is able to access the Internet, although by different means. While the iPhone usually connect to the Internet via a wireless network operator's mobile data, the only way to connect to the Internet in an 8 GB iPod Touch is the device to use built-in wireless adapter.

1. Get references to a wireless network nearby, if you are not home or do not have access to a public network without a password. If a blue button "off" appears next to the Wi-Fi, tap it on the wireless adapter to connect the device.

3. Operaton could not be completed. Invalid Argument is the error message I get when trying to connect to my home wifi. What am I doing wrong?

Download the latest software driver which should be 3.1.2 for the ipod touch. Then touch settings icon, touch wi-fi box at top and then touch again to turn wi/fi on. Then choose the name of the network you use to log on when your using the computer. Then type in the same password you use to log on your computer. Now push the home button at the bottom of the ipod. Now touch the safari icon at the bottom of the screen and the internet should be there for you.

No Internet via zoom X6 wireless router to desk top, lap top ok.

Access your zoom router by using the laptop which still has access to the router.

Your going to have to open your Wireless Network Connection Status window located under your network settings.

If you see this window your going to left click the (details) button

Now you should see a IP DNS server address
for example: 192.168.1.xxx

Type that address onto the address bar of your web browser.

it should take you to your router setup page.

There you will need to check if the lan port is enabled

My itouch won't connect to my wireless network

This happened to me as well. Turned out the iPod touch doesn't support WEP encryption properly, and sometimes can't log onto those networks.

If your network is WEP-encrypted, try changing it to WPA.

Although cable to desktop connects to internet, my router from desktop to laptop via router won't connect.

Desk top to internet is OK.
How about Destop through Router connection to Internet OK?
Assuming you want to connect wireless from Lap top to Network, need to configure correctly for wireless in Router.
If you connect Lap top to router by wire and it didn't work that mean your router is bad.
