    VHS tape stuck; take up reel has no tension on it

    found by dissassembly, might be under warrent but

    do not want to part with the tape while it is returned

    to be serviced, how to release tape from machiene

    without complete dissassembly is my problem.

    OVERALL this deck is problematic; has to be

    reset often from lockup or lack of tuning in channels

    has to have power disconnected to recycle internal

    computer glitching out I suspect, inherant to the model/

    software. Not the 1st DTV tuner/deck I have heard of this

    happening too. HOW TO GET TAPE transport to manually

    release tape ANYBODY?

Hi, , the sensor of your unit was broke,,, or the mech is stuck,,, if you know how to dis assemble ,,, just check the mech.system first. , , , , and the rubber belt lower tape head part.. . if problem accur.. .. go to your nearest repairman

Put in a vhs cassette,it ejected and piece of actual tape was stuck inside. I was able to get tape out and rewound onto the vhs. question is, is this the player or the vhs cassete that is defected?
No one can tell you without inspecting recorder. I would try another cassette for the answer.

How to remove a cassette stocked in a vhs machine?
If the VHS tape is stuck inside, and when you push the eject button, it wont come out. Then you need to unplug the VHS player, take it apart so that you can access the inside. See how the tape is stuck inside and start to take it out the best you can. Once you get it out you may have to throw away the tape if it is messed up badly, if not wind it back up. Put the VHS player back together once you get the tape out. Then try to play another VHS tape and see if it works again. If not, it may be a bad VHS player or it may be the tapes. Hope this helps. I have had to take mine apart to take a tape out, so that's how I know

Power off when inserting vhs tape
I had this problem when copying an old family vhs tape. I had to unscrew the top of the magnavox to access the vhs tape. Then, I gently removed the tape and replaced the cover. After winding the tape back, I put it in the player and immediately pushed fast forward for about 3 seconds before hitting play followed by d.dubbing. I was able to make a copy of the tape and did not damage my original.

I think you are refering to the tape itself in the VHS cassette and it not being stuck inside the Video itself!
So if you are... don't use the spray... video cassettes have a brake system inside them. It sometimes breaks. If you turn the cassette upside down so you can see the white reels, inbetween them near the bottom (where the side label goes) you will see a small hole. If you put a pen inside it should release the reels so you can turn them with your finger. If they don't turn it may be broken. In which case... Get hold of a blank tape, the same length as yours. Carefully remove the screws (5) on the bottom. See how it's put together. Once you understand how the tape moves etc. Take out the reels with the tape, then dismantle your video and put the reels with the old tape into the new holder. It should work as good as new.
PS try not to touch with fingers the tape.

My vhs c tape is stuck inside my vhs adapter... It is motorized, and If I put in the batteries, it just makes noise, but nothing happens and I cannot even switch the button back and forth..

You might be able to retrive it by opening it up. This might void your warranty. Also, maybe you could just buy a new one.
