Sound like a low water level and or pressure issue. Start machine on normal cycle after filling open door and ck water level. should be up toJUST below heater assy.. assumiong htats good set hte wash arms to a set positon so you can watch for rotation. close the door adn after a few secs open rapidly and look for middle arm to be spinning, even the top 3rd row arm if present, should be spinning spinning . if not its possible that the motor/sumo assy is blocked w/ foriegn debris. remove the lower spray arm (hold the nut and spin arm)then remove 4 or 5 torx 15 screws. probly pretty glogged under there. if not id look into replacing motor sump assy/seals worn and not throwing water where it should go

My whirlpool gold dishwasher is about 11 years old now and is'nt cleaning my dishes at all...they are still dirty both top and bottom. Any ideas??

Make sure the water sprayers are not clogged. It may just be a good idea to get new sprayers and they are easy to install.

My dishwasher doesn't clean my dishes anymore and sometimes it doesnt dry them. it is a quiet partner 1 and it is about 2 years old.

It sounds like the water pump on the dish washer has gone out. A dish washer works (much like a clothes washer) by filling up the washer with a set amount of water, then through circulation, pumps the water up through the various spray nozzels. If the water pump is worn and not making enough pressure, the spray won't get the job done. Depending upon make/model, it may be cheaper to replace the water pump.

Run an empty dishwasher load with a bowl of white vinegar on the bottom shelf. As the dishwasher runs the cycle, the vinegar is slowly disbursed and cleans the dishwasher.

The clips that hold the top shelf in my dishwasher are broke

call an appliance parts and service store and tell them the make year and model of your dishwasher..And they should be able to help you or steer you to an appropriate appliance shop they should be able to tell you how to remove and replace as well

The dishes on the top shelf does not seem to get clean. Does not appear water is coming out of the top spinning module.

Take out the top spinner and clean it thoroughly with descaler and degreaser / very hot soapy water. Soak it for a while and it will work wonders. Put it back in the machine and it will work like new.

Dirt left on dishes on top tray; bottom tray washes fine

The broken bottom arm is probably preventing any water / water under pressure to get to the upper arm.
After you replace the lower arm, you should have much better cleaning in the top shelf.
While you are in there replacing the lower arm, recommend you remove the filter under it and clean the filter and any debris you find. Be careful of broken glass!
Good Luck!

Whirlpool Gold dishwasher

Either:
  1. not enough water gets into the dishwasher. check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
  2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
Good luck,

Dishwasher does not clean items on top shelf.

Check the upper spray arm holes for debris that may be plugging up the spray arm. If clean remove the lower spray arm and filter screen and clean out any debris in the sump.

Whirlpool Gold dishwasher

My Whirlpool dishwasher is only 2 years old and I started having the same problems. I dismantled everything I could and washed and scrubbed the entire unit with EVERYTHING..to no avail, dirty dishes!! But I discovered a remedy! Try using Lemi-Shine for about a week with your regular wash-soap. If you are using the tablet form of soap, stop and try the powdered form. Follow the instructions on the Lemi-Shine container. You can find it just about anywhere for around $3.50. I was within "5 seconds" of replacing my 2 year old Whirlpool dishwasher when this caught my eye and I figured why not try it too? After the first wash I noticed a big difference the cleanliness of the dishes..and now it is running GREAT after 2 weeks!
