Set-up for portable DVD player by Craig cmd420

Hello
[1] Insert the batteries into the Craig DVD player. Depending on the model you are using, the batteries are either rechargeable lithium-ion batteries or store-purchased AA batteries.
[2] Plug the 3.5mm cable into the headphone jack on the side of the Craig DVD player
[3] Insert the opposite end of the cable into the "Aux" connection on the car stereo. Without this audio-input option, you will be unable to hook the Craig DVD player up to your vehicle.
[4] Power on the Craig DVD player and insert the desired DVD. The video will load onto the display screen while the audio is played through the car's stereo system.

My Mintek portable DVD player's battery will not charge. I have rarely used the battery so I can't believe the battery is dead. The AC cord works to power it when plugged in. Why won't it...

After a while even rechargeable batteries loose the ability to hold a charge. This process accelerates when the battery is allowed to lie completely discharged for long periods of time. NiCad batteries especially have this issue. If you left the battery sitting for long periods without occasionally charging it, it losses the ability to hold a charge. It appears you are going to have to either do without the battery or replace the pack. I would take out the old one, it will eventually start to corrode and leak and if its still in your machine it will cause damage. If you get a new battery pack make sure you charge it fully and then depleat it completely before recharging it. hope this helps.

The player works when plugged into the car outlet or home outlet but i think the battery pack is not working. does the battery charge when plugged into the outlet? i'm not sure if it needs replaced or not...

Some portable DVD players will charge from a home outlet, but not a car outlet. You probably need a replacement, however.
Here's one: http://www.batteryspace.com/nimhbatterypack72v2200mah6xaaprewiredforcraigportabledvd.aspx
From the item description it looks like its just 6 rechargeable AA connected in series, so you could probably make one pretty easily if you wanted to.

I have a goodmans dvd player it will not power up, when i plug in the AC adapter the red light comes on to charge the battery pack but does not charge also when i plug direct to the AC supply i do not get...

Hi, I would say this obviously has a power related issue, I would open the machine up firstly and check for any internal fuses that may be open circuit.
If they are all ok then check for faulty capacitors around the power supply, ( domed shaped and bulged ) replace as necessary.
Hope this helps

GPX DVD Player

Most items, first time your have to charge it for continious 8 to 11 hours. On that time it fully charge the battery and internal battery. I would say charge it for 11 hours.(It wont over chage on anything.)
But, if you already charged it for some time, discharge it fully. (Leave it playing till it wont even turn on when you puch the power button) Then charge it backfor11 hours.

Cheers!!

Replace the battery. They have a limited lifetime and it is obvious yours has reached that point.

Craig portable dvd player

I have this same DVD player and had the same problem. I have recently discovered that when we open the flip top, one of the "joints" that keeps the flip top attached to the player kind of pops out? We had to snap it back into place after opening the DVD player. Our light still does not come on but the player does work. Just a suggestion!
