Question about Dell Dimension 8200 PC Desktop

CPU fan died again

I have a dell dimension 8200 and the internal cpu exhaust fan died quite a while ago. I was using a desk fan and the computer chassis open to keep it cool. A few weeks ago I finally tracked down a replacement dell fan for the 8200. Well, this fan worked well from day one, but not after day 7 when all of a sudden it just gave up completely. Now I have two busted cpu exhaust fans. I have tested the fans by giving them 12v to the positive and negative terminals of the cords... The old fan does nothing, the latest fan does nothing. The new fan will occasionally twitch and move a tiny tiny bit, but is otherwise dead. What might this mean? Is the fan connector on the motherboard faulty and burning out my fans? Can anyone think of a good solution? Im pretty sure if I purchase another one of these fans, the same thing will happen...

    Its a 12 volt fan, 1.7amps... so the connector is 12volts.

Fans are 2 one for the power supply, one for the CPU.

I havd a Dell Dimension 8200 that sometimes shuts down and power light turns yellow. I can usally open case and plug and on plug to get it to power back up. Recently replaced fans due to fan failure....

Most people forget about the power supply. If the power supply overheats, it will shutdown. When shutdown, it will cool off then operate again.

A power supply goes by WATT ratings, the average size power supply is now 450 watts for an average system and should cost around $60.

Dell Dimension 8200 Desktop PC shuts off after it has been on for a long time. It shuts off like power has been removed from the CPU although I have an APC hooked up to it.
Sir you should check the power supply of your system.If its working properly then its because of the heat sink of your motherboard...Try to mother heat sink fans in the pc and your problem is solved......

Trying to find the Jumper that controls FSB on a dell dimension 8200. Either that or some form of overclocking software that will allow me to get the full 2.8 out of my P4

modern Boards Auto-Detect FSB speeds, usually determined By CPU fsb And Memory/Ram speeds. It may be Wise to see if theres A user manual/guide for this board. or a possible bios update to support the CPU. also check the boards fsb speed ratings charts. overclocking is not recommended, as this can damage cpu/ram and motherboard.

Cpu fan failure message when booting
Sad to say but this model dell uses a specific fan made for dell. Unless you want to modify your cpu cooling system you will need to contact dell for a system specific replacement part. Hope this helps.

Dell Dimension 8200 won't power up
If the power button does not light up at all, I would guess the power supply has a problem.

Dell CPU fan inside went out
If your computer is running kind of sluggish, you can fix it with an easy clean up of your registry. Here's a link to a free scan that works well:

hi, i also hav a dimensions 8200 which i recently uprgaded to a 2.8gh, but i discovered there were two versions of this system one which supports a 400FSB and the other 533FSB, these can determine the speed of ur cpu. Like you, I havent been able to unlock my clock speeds in the bios but i think you should be able to get more from ur new cpu by updating ur bios version to A09. check the dell site for more info on how to do this.

CPU cooling fan
Hi...you can press the F2 key to enter setup...and scroll down until the fan is highlited...hit enter and then F10 to save and exit.This tells the computer its OK.
you should have plugged the fan in the same pin port the old fan was in. Usually only 1,.
If the new fan is not from dell..it may be faster and noiser..or it may be faulty..if you bought it locally you may try to return it.
The purpose of the fan of course is to remove the hot air from the CPU to keep it from overheating. If this fan does it it is most likely ok.

Dell T3400 gets an error message that says that Windows would not start because the \windows system32\config\system is missing or corrupt and run the windows repair from the o/s CD. However, when I try, i get a BSOD that suggests that there could be a virus. I have scanned the harddrive and found no viruses and scandisk/defrag as well.
