SOURCE: ejecting cd dell studio 17

Supposing that the Studio 15 / 17 has a slot loading drive:

You can either press the eject button above the keyboard (the touch sensitive one)

or

Go to 'Computer' in Vista and right click the CD/DVD drive. Then click 'Eject'.

This should work.

There are small plastic drive gears that respond to the drivebelt. These gears are very fragile and may have come out of syncronization.

Hi,
A generic Battery should Work fine.
Try going To my computer/Control Panel/Power options.
You should find a battery Icon, for the Battery if it,s recognised in there. select ( show on Desktop ) And refresh The Battery.
New Batteries usually require to be fully charged. Then Discharged ( no-Mains Power ) for the first 3-4 Charges. So that the Computers power Management System, Can guage the Capacity Of The battery Inserted.

SOURCE: I have a dell studio 17 laptop. There does not

You can go to my computer and then you will see the dvd drive showing. It will probably show the title of the cd. Usually it is the D drive. Right click it and click eject. That should eject it for you.

Screen Flashing then Computer shuts down

The two things I've dealt with in cases such as yours is I have sometimes failed to have a 110v outlet really, actually working. The other problem was when I wouldn't be patient enough to plug in the computer and let it charge for a while BEFORE attempting to start it.. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know for sure, but, in your case, I might also suspect a bad battery... that was sucking up too much charging juice... to allow the computer to start up and run.

I plug charger in and hav no led light to say charging battery nearly dead

If you have a Volt-ohm meter you can check if the AC adapter for your laptop is giving out the correct voltage. Also if you have a meter and you can see that the voltage is correct on the adapter try taking out the battery and plugging in the ac adapter and test the battery connection on the computer for voltage, if do have voltage to the adapter but not the battery terminal it could be a motherboard issue. A quick question, is the ac jack loose or does the plug move around easily when plugged in?

Battery doesn't appear to be charging.

There may be several physical problems. You should make sure that the battery is properly plugged in and no switches that allow it to be removed are in the open position. Checking that the power cord if plugged in proper at the laptop, the power brick, and the power outlet may also solve the problem. If none of these work, try using a different power cord that fits your laptop if you can get your hands on one. You may also want to try a different power outlet, or make sure that power outlet can power another device (eg vacuum, phone) so you know if it's actually a problem with that power outlet and not your computer.

If you battery doesn't charge even with a cable that you know works for another computer, and the outlet is working properly, your battery may be corroded or suffering from over-use over a long period of time. In this case it would be best to buy a replacement battery directly from Dell which you can do here:

My dell studio can not charge.

Make sure the battery is well seated in the laptop. If that doesn't work, the battery may be going bad and you will need a replacement. I've had to replace my Dell's battery twice since I got it about 4 years ago.

I have a dell studio 14. When i plug my ac adapter in to charge my battery, it charges for 5 seconds and then goes to idle. I have a brand new battery and charger, so I doubt it is either of these...

You didn't say, but I assume that you think the battery is not fully charged. Maybe it is?
If the power adapter is putting out the required voltage ~18v. and the battery is new, and still it can't charge, I would suspect the motherboard.

I have a dell laptop studio 17 . Batter says " plugged in but not charging " . Is there a solution to this besides purchasing a new Ac or motherboard or sending it away .

Hello there,
I would suggest that you take off the battery first overnight. This will discharge the power totally and will let you run a power cycle. The next day, try to charge it again. Let me know what would be the results after that.
Good luck!

Won't turn on! Powers up for about 6 seconds then

If its a brand new pc, I'd get straight back on to Dell, there could be a fault and you don't want to invalidate your warranty by messing about with it.
