Does this happen when you print or only when you use the scanner? I would test it by printing an internal page first. If the line is not there then chances are it's related to the scanner. Make sure the scanner is clean. If there is a line when printing the internal test sheet then then next question would be "does this line repeat, and if so, how often does it repeat?" That will give you an idea if it's the charge roller, toner or fuser.
