Viewing screen/pictures nearly totally black

Hello

My camera was working fine. I downloaded a number of videos from it - don't know if such is related. However, shortly after doing so I tried using the camera and nos, using the viewing screen, I see only what appears to be similar to shadowy night vision.

When I take a picture the image is nearly completing dark.

I have tried everything I can think of ...

I think unfortunately your CCD died. Long term video using is not suitable for this kind of cameras. You can do nothing. An authorized tecnician must look the camera. So you should bring your camera to the nearest Olympus Service. Good luck.

Black line on panasonic plasma

You either have a bad signal module or if you can go into the set and reseat all of the ribbons cables this might fix the set. Of course with the power off! If reseating doesn't fix, if I was going to fix it I would order a signal module first. It plugs up.

When I take a picture, then look at the LCD screen, all the white areas flash black then white. If I download the pictures everything is fine. Is something set wrong? Also for no reason the flash stopped...

The blinking indicates blown-out highlights. Those are the areas of your pictures that have been overexposed into pure white. This is generally considered a bad thing, and the correct fix in most cases is to reduce the exposure to bring back details. Losing details in the shadows is generally more acceptable. But this is just a warning: the camera doesn't know what effect you're trying for.

While viewing a picture, pressing up/down on the multiselector cycles through the different available views of the picture.

Black viewing screen and blank pictures

Luckyfourme,
Check to see that the automatic lens protector is opening and/or off when you experience black screen, as it should open letting light in when you power up the Kodak easyshare camera.
Good luck and Congratulations on your Daughters upcoming Wedding!

Black screen

I have the same problem. Fine one day and a black screen the next. I called Vivtar and they were no help. They wanted me to send it in and let them repair it at my expense. don't think so. everything works perfect on the camera...but the screen is black and so are the pictures. Good Luck!

Blank Screen and faulty shutter blades

I found out the hard way that you should never use alkaline batteries in a Digital Camera. I thought my camera had a fundamental flaw (power kept going off whenever I tried to take a photo or record a video and the shutter blades half closed) even though it was only 2 months old. I nearly wrote it off but all along the problem was that I was using alkaline batteries, which incidentally were enclosed with the camera in the box!! Once I switched to NiMH (Nickel) batteries the camera worked fine and the fault completely vanished! These NiMH batteries are avaiable in most electrical shops i.e currys/comet in the UK. They must be charged before use. They are more expensive than alkaline batteries (£8-£9 for 4) but as they are rechargable they last a long time.
