Turns on, recognizes input, so does the computer. No bumps or scratches visible but no video output what so ever, just a black screen as if it was dead. What to do?
How do you know it's recognizing the input? Black screen on a CRT monitor usually mean the horizontal output circuitry has failed impeding the flyback from producing high voltage. If this monitor is really important to you most reputable repair people still repair them. However, it may be overall cheaper in the long run to dump it and get an LCD monitor.
It's in the realm of possiblity that even the CRT neck could have been broken. I've seen them break with very little outside influence. In fact, years ago I was Service Manager for Montgomery Wards. They had a CRT TV that the neck was so sensitive to vibration that the manufacturer had to install a special metal collar to prevent the necks from breaking while shipping to the stores. In your case it could just as easily be a broken solder tion connection that was failing all along because of high heat. It could be a simple fix, or it could be expensive. Just depends on how much you want to invest in a tube type monitor. Good luck

1. VIDEO (IN) jack- Connect to the video
output jack of a video camera or VCR.
2. AUDIO (INPUT) L/R jacks- Connect to
the left/right channel audio output jacks of
a video camera or VCR.
Note: The AUDIO (INPUT)L jack is for
mono input. The sound is heard from both
speakers. Use this jack for monaural audio
equipment to be hooked up.
OK.

Thank you indeed. I believe this was caused by mishandling when moving addresses, there are no visible signs of damage though, and it was well packaged. Is that something so sensitive as to burst just by moving or lightly beating the monitor? It's a LaCie Electron Blue color correct monitor, it would be a shame to refurbish it.
