Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Why your operating system hangs and the possible solutions.

Windows hanged or becomes unresponsive is always a vitalre-ocurring issue Microsoft users have discovered when using thisoperating system. The hanging is random. Windows hangs on the welcomescreen right after login. It can hang during shutdown. The programs youopened can hang or just stop responding including your mouse andkeyboard. This is quite frustrating especially if you are working onsomething important. There are actually a lot of causes to thisproblem, but below are the main reasons why Windows hangs plus theircorresponding fixes:
Viruses and Spyware. Malicious filesmay be hiding in your system. These malware corrupt your files andhinder your computer's performance causing Windows to eventuallyhang. Keep your virus definitions always updated. Make sure to alsodownload the latest security patches and updates. Always run a scan onyour computer to detect these viruses and spyware then delete them.
Too many programs running at once. This consumes more virtual RAM (Random Access Memory) than your systemcan handle Don't open a lot of applications simultaneously. Limit thenumber of software and websites currently running to those that areimportantly only. If you are a heavy multi-tasker, then upgrade yourRAM to at least double what you are using now.
Corrupt Windows Registry. The registry contains information and settings Windows referencesduring operation. This database eventually becomes cluttered because ofredundant and obsolete entries leaving it corrupted. It is advised thento clean your Windows registry to delete those unwanted entries. Amanual clean is not possible though because the registry is the brainof your computer and is somewhat complicated. A minor change or errorin an entry can cause major damage in your operating system.
Diagnosing your system with a registry cleaner is the bestsolution to solve registry problems. It is specialized software thatthoroughly scans your Windows registry, repairs any errors it sees, anddeletes all those invalid entries. By having a clean registry, you willnotice a great improvement in your computer speed and performance. Itwill also completely fix Windows hangs.

IE8 unresponsive on facebook

Go to tools then "compatibility view". If you wish to add it to the list so that it always renders Facebook this way click compatibility view settings. Facebook is a progressive company and they have been phasing out support for older browsers. I assume you are on XP otherwise you would be up to IE9+. My suggestion would be to possibly move to Chrome, Firefox or Opera which do not have an operating system limitation.

Multi-user IE7

If it is a beta release of IE7, try to update with the latest patch. Download the latest version from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx Also try a different browser and see if the issue remains the same or not. Try and Disable Antivirus/Firewalls and check if it helps. Also run a Malaware/Spyware check. Hope it works out for you.
