My bosch dishwasher will not fill with water. I have manually filled it but it just pumps it out when I switch it on.

The light can come for a few reasons. Not emptying, not filling, over filling or water leaking into base.
Probably jug impellor part number (424099) from espares, buyspares or bosch direct.
No fix unfortunately, this problem manifests as unit starts to fill and motor does not switch on. Eventually the unit overfills and the pump and fill start to alternate and check water light comes on. If this is the fault then this part is the solution it runs in line with the inlet valve and side fill chamber, take the left side panel off (looking from the front) it is tucked away behind the hoses bottom left. Check water light can also come on if the unit is not pumping, if this is the case, repost and I will try and talk you through clearing this fault.

If it works when water is added the the over flow switch is ok

you have to remove the cover of your unit in able to access the valve/.pump

On bosch dishwasher if the base senses a water leak the unit will not fill & the drain pump will come on. I recommend checking for water in the base & locating the source of the leak if you see water in the base. Other possibilities; fill switch, water level switch or water valve. There is no reset for this problem.

I checked the inlet solenoid valve to make sure it was receiving power, it was. I removed the left hand side panel of the machine. The labyrinth was blocked with crud as was the float switch assy,

Cleaned them out,with boiling hot water, it now works.

most bosch have the inlet valve at the end of the fill pipe and it has an anti-flood device.
try turning off the water, take off the fill pipe then reconnect it and see if this works.
taking off the fill pipe resets the anti-flood device

float switch is in the flood position and the drain pump is running.. there is water under the dishwasher or that switch is stuck up..
