If the software appears to be hanging and then rebooting you most likely have bad capacitors on the motherboard. This is a pretty old board and the caps tend to dry out and this is a typical behavior. If there is a brief blue screen before it reboots I'd say just re-install windows. Also be sure to get SP3 and all the security updates. Your leaving yourself open for attack.
If you are trying to install Windows XP then - The problem is that XPinstallation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on adisk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP.The FIX.Go into the BIOS anddisable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is aIDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows hasbeen installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver),then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.http://www.fixya.com/support/r4335035-installing_windows_xp_sata_hard_drive
Your system is probably hanging because of high temperature. Check cpu temperature in bios hardware monitor. If it is to high check the heatsink is fitted properly also apply thermal paste between processor and heatsink.
Hi, If do not hear any beep then it means that the mother board is dead you can try clear the BIOS by removing the battery of the mother board for 5 mins or by shorting the jumper for clearing the BIOS if that didn't help then you have to repair the board or replace it.
Take the new card out and reconnect the monitor to the on-board VGA. Boot up press F2 and enter the bios. Look for resource configuration and set the Primary Graphics Adapter as AGP.
Save and switch off. Disconnect the PC from the mains, fit the new card and attach the monitor cable to the new card.
Make sure to attch a power connecter to the card if it needs it.
Reconnect the PC to the mains switch on and hopefully away you go.
Start by checking your display card, then cpu then ram , try to remove bios batt remove power cable for 3 min then reput batt try on again otherwise can be faulty main board have you tried a other screen
Check your cmos battery as it may be too flat to continue to the P.O.S.T
If you find it to be flat replace and then you will have to reset the time and date in the bios setup screen when prompted.
If the continuas re booting persists, turm pc off and then on again pressing F8 as it boots and hopefully you get into the safe mode menu and you eill have to highlight the line that reads Last Known Good Configuration, press enter then allow a re boot.
